Hi all new to the forum! Got a 1993 mk3 1.1lx fiesta. Im not to bad when it comes to the exterior and interior but when it comes to the bay I'm fu*ked!
I know it been covered loads but still can't get my head I'm struggerljng to
Find xr2i engines to straight swap so was wondering if a mk4/5 1.6/1.8 escort engine will go straight in? If so what parts will I need? I was hoping to use the standard 1.1 box and not need to change to much but if I need to them I will!
Any help appreciated.

Hi mate, ive looked into this a lot, im keeping the 1100 in my mk3 for now but may be thinking of doing the same thing in the future!!
So from what ive researched and seen, the mk3 engines will all wit into each different car easily enough!
in my opinion though i would stay away from xr2i or rs engines, only because of the age ect. though if you have the money and thats what your going for specifically for nostalgic reasons GFI!!
The most common and to my knowlege easiest and cheapest.. would be a Ztec, you can get the 2.0 lump out of i believe a mondeo or something and they go in! i saw a fella at santapod and have seen a few online, as well as old mans mates and my mates all suggesting the ztec!!
i can imagine it would need to go with uprated brakes, gearbox (and shift if yours is the 4 speed), driveshaft and if your there any way mounts& rubbers& possibly the exhaust too!!
although the swap its self can apparently be done for 2-300 quid! including picking up the enjine!
an indi garrage might only charge ya an hours lobour!!
id be interested to see how it goes!!
