The gearbox is from a focus but its a st170gearbox not the RS..
The RS comes standard with a Quaife diff fitted so is a good box..

I wanted to go for the 6-speed box as its ratios are better suited for track/topspeed.
I then needed to fit a st170 specific Quaife diff the flywheel and clutch is also completely different
To the RS so this had to be specced up also.

Its an area six inlet mate, does cost but note it is only required if you want over 320bhp.

dependant on the power you want a standard rs1800 efi inlet will suffice up to that point.

The gearbox is a nightmare to install, proably the hardest part of the build... rs focus box would be the easiest choice but boring its only got 5 gears

cheers for your words mate, see you at FITP :)

**OOOOOH THAT PIC LOOKS SHOCKING - Its alot shinyer than that now 8) **

Im afraid it wont mate - have to run a hydraulic pedal box, actually having issues mounting the Gt30 turbo in the car as the the exhaust manifold is designed to sit the turbo right where the top gearbox mount INCONVIENTLY sits.

We think we have solved it now by modifing the arrangement of the manifold.. ordering the parts for the custom exhast system tomorrrow so in a weeks time hopefully all will be solved....

SWEET - the mounts are on the way...cheers for letting me know tht mate :D
how did you know they were my mounts though ????????????

Any info you need mate on gearbox pm me

Just got speaking to the guy and told him i was planning on puting an st170 engine into a mk3 fiesta before i changed my mind (doing a mk5 fiesta now) and somehow got onto the subject of your car.

He said you were doing a feature for one of the ford mags and then i realised it must be you!

Even got 15% discount on my mount as i live local :P

thanks for the help :Q

Yeah mate enigne flywheel, clutch and gearbox are all bolted in place and all dressed in new paint and chromed bolts etc.

Its hanging on the standard mounts at mo but vibra technics competition mounts should be here tomorrow by all accounts.

Manifolds are all loosley bolted to get the posisting of the turbo, which is kinda lined up now, so we can get the flange welded when the pipe turns up Monday/tuesday.

This weekend hope to have the coilpack re-located, and mount the rad and intercooler in place.

If only that were true... its not even half way there yet to be totally honest with you...

Did get my delivery today though. :D

Cant thank VIBRA-TECHNICS enough for sorting these mounts for me, i was none the wiser to anyone making a replacement
insert for the RS1800 front mount, this is the spherical one with alloy casing, available as a road spec item,
but i have had the competition one made as to handle the torque the engine is going to be slinging through its little body. (If you send your mount in to them they can press the old one out and fit the new one in and send back).

The larger of the mounts is for the gearbox, this will hopefully stop the rocking motion i found on fitting the mock up engine and box.
Anyone needing to freshen up there mounts i can strongly recommend Vibra-technics.. will make one offs happily and supply of the shelf items
in a matter of 24 hours from ordering. Also look pretty trick too.
I seriously cannot make the mounts move by hand where the standard ones are pretty easy to flex and manipulate.

Image

The throttle body also has been an issue in which has caused some considerable headaches..
Different opinons on which size to use, settled with a brand new item which is originally intended
for a 2.5ltr Mondeo.
