Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Rear Ledas and wings !
More progress today
Rear Ledas are on, I must admit I got slightly excited putting these on

Other jobs done today
Rear brakes, handbrake cable one front wing bolted on

My Powerflex rear ARB bushes will be here in the week so that can be put back on when they arrive.
Next Saturday I hope to paint the engine bay out, this will enable me to bolt the front suspension on thus allowing me to move it around.
I'm gonna book it in for paint then

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Rear Ledas and wings !
Did you have to make any modifications to the inner wings to make the wings bolt on or is it just a case of putting bolts in plcae of the spot welds?

Its all brand new so I didn't see the point of swapping to discs mate, I have 4x4 Cosworth set up for the front and the combination worked really well out on track last time.
Used M5 Rivnuts for the wings,
Rob, Its a rather nice picture that isn't it
Right, 2 weeks today, shes goes in for the respray
So between now and then I need to fit the front suspension and steering rack on, I will remove it all before its painted though
I'm gonna get them to paint the bay and inside out while its down there, saves me doing it and they will do a better job
I have 2 front bumpers being painted, one for track days and one for shows

Same set up as me then, works a treat IMHO.
What discs and pads are you using on the front? I had Pagid until they wore out, on some oem pads now, not tested yet though

Chris, I ran last year Black Diamond grooved discs with Red Stuff pads,
when the pads wear out I will go Yellow stuff I think.
Henry, I will be in the ST220
Max, Yeah its a standard RS1800 beam, same as FRST ones, ARB can be refitted now as I have got the Powerflex bushes turn up today.

I knew I should have bought those LEDAS
Shaun I run yellow stuff pads on my Fiesta, theyre a much better pad now that theyve changed the compound, a lot harder wearing, although they never done me much good on Sunday, when I rolled the car at Knockhill
Should be fixed and ready for National DAy on teh 13th September....... hopefully. Its in the body shop at the moment

You ok mate!
What happend ??
Car had spilled oil on an already very slidy track, and I hit it flat out in 5th gear, had no grip at all, and landed in the gravel trap sideways and flipped the car onto its roof, the dangers I suppose of doing track days, you put all that time , effort and money into a car , and its soo easily damaged, myself and my mate are Ok, no injuries really

Bloody hell Paul
I'm not a fan of wet track days tbh.
as long as you and your mate are ok buddy, thats the main thing,
brings it all home though doesn't it seeing your motor like that
I think I would of given the underside a buff though before they put it back on its wheels

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, In the bodyshop
Update time
Car is now in the bodyshop being prept for a few coats of Frozen White
I've decided to do the engine bay white as well, initially I was going to do it black but after I was told it would cost an extra £100 due to masking etc I said do it White
So, It went in on Monday, so far, they have skimmed the rear arches with filler,
I have cut out the top of the front panel (got a nice piece of ali. going in its place
)
Fitted the front wings, cut the door inners out, prept the engine bay.
The paint will be going on next week.
Lightweight door

New wheels and suspension

Spot the (lack of) fuel cap

How it currently stands

Great project.
Lose the check straps, bit more weight.
How are you going to support the ends of the rear bumper, the two bolts alone in the back panel won't hold the ends up?

looking gd mate. Can't wait to see how well the colour suits the car. Think the engine bay idea is 100% worth it, be able to spot any leaks very easily and make the car/engine bay alot smarter imo.
