Car still down the garage

But good news, I'm getting it back Monday with the 12 months MOT

it failed on a couple of very mnior things which are being sorted out Monday morning,

Split-pin missing from n/s track rod end

front o/s Brake hose twisted (just needs taking off a turning once round)

So I will be collecting her Monday afternoon.

Shes only been on my drive for 2 nights and been down the garge for 6

First proper outing will be to For-tune next Saturday for a rolling road

I plan on doing Castle Combe,have only driven it once and that was a few years ago when the fiesta was standard.

So far i have Donington booked on the 27th,Bedfored RSOC trackday Feb 3rd and then back to Donington end of feb for the rsoc trackday.
I also plan on getting the fiesta up to croft for a session or 2 on the saturday and Mallory park at some point

Total cost inc. MOT £250

But I do need to sort the brakes out, there a bit on the vague side

New Discs and pads for front (uprated )

New rear shoes and wheels cylinders,

New handbrake cable,

Braided lines and Dot 5.1 fluid should sharpen them up a bit.

That will be done over Christmas

I was running standard sized brakes for a couple of years on track and never had any fade at all but did have to run 1166 race pads

We'll be taking bookings for Croft in the new year too

My last track car had standard sized grooved discs and uprated pads,

I also never had a problem with them, so I'm going for the same set up again.

The fact the cars weigh very little helps for sure.

The one I'm aiming for is Combe on April 19th, I will deffo be ready for that,

Small update now I'm here

Just waiting on my Mintex Extreme front pads and my brakes can be sorted this week

I'm also renewing;

all wheels bearings,

front stabilising bars

Track rod ends

Brand new radiator

Finally changed my oil and filter today and put some brand new headlights in as well

soon I will have some buckets and harnesses in.

going to put my B&M quickshift in

my brake pads turned up today so Thursday I'm fitting them with the rest of the braking/suspension bits.

Yes using them fella (cheers for them btw ), but on the Action Days at Combe you can't use slicks

so looking at the Yoko's A048 or Toyo R888 for those days (4 this year)

Sorted the front brakes out today,

I was hoping to do the rears as well, but ran out of time

So, I have replaced discs, pads, track rod ends, arb bushes with Powerflex items,

stabilising bars and flexi brake hoses.

I got no pedal at all atm until the rears are done and the fluid changed

It was fun driving back home on just the handbrake

Went and picked these up locally tonight







They should hold me and my passengers in a bit better

Henry, Discs are Red Dot six groove ones, think they are about £85,

I got them for £30 delivered off E-bay

Also tonight, I just got myself some Avon ACB9 tyres 5.0 22-13s (185/60/13)
set of 5 with approx 3mm of tread for £25

max - grooved disks always make a burring noise under breaking it is perfectly normal.

just think mate i could of sold you a set of xr2i alloys (no tyres) for them new tyres you got there, all i got to do with them now is weight them in

Rear brakes have now been sorted,

So I've replaced,

Drums

Wheel cylinders

Wheels bearings,

Handbrake cable

Shoes



Also did a bit more weight saving, I removed the spare wheel and hanger, I can pick the back end up on my own now

I have also got a small race battery on its way which will be located behind the passenger seat

Off down to the garage tomorrow to put the new 5.1 fluid in and fit the quickshift

and then I should have quite good brakes ready for some track abuse

Buckets will hopefully be put in on Friday afternoon, my eyelets for the harness' turned up today

I thought they were meant to be, but there was a sticker on them saying which side they should be on, so I put them on as it said.

When I did the ones on JNE I put them round the other way.

lol I see. Don't suppose you have a larger version of that picture you could PM? I need to get the brackets that hold the hoses up and see how they mount. I cleverly binned the brackets with the old hoses
