as for blackberry had a shot of one and dont rate them better views in iphone compared to blackberry, there are more for work and applications simliar, as for the iphone it entertains on all levels and can be used in the same way as a blackberry.

Re: Just got iphone
Seriously fantastic pieces of kit. I can't stand the current trend of teenagers following each other to get blackberrys. Plus you can't access the internet on a blackberry without going through the BIS server. Ridiculous!
As for iPhone apps:
Angry Birds for definite!, very very addictive game!
Shazam - identify music for free
CoPilot UK&Ireland - best sat nav I've used.
Facebook - pretty self explanatory
My O2 - allows me to keep a check on my bills and allowances
DropBox - access files synced with my home and work PC's
eBay - pretty self explanatory
iTunes remote - controls the PC version of iTunes via an iPod type app on the phone
'stachetastic - take a photo - insert a moustache!
TVCatchup web app - live TV
Air Mouse - allows me to use my phone as a wireless trackpad or accellerometer controlled mouse
Whatsapp messenger - free SMS between iPhones
Meebo - MSN client
But in general its a fantastic handset even before the apps !

I recommend the Performance Ford Magazine iPhone app - full issues of PF on your iPhone, available from the app store.
This is also a pretty nifty bit of kit if you want to play cars with your iPhone: http://www.ot-2.com/ available in the UK from Graham Goode Racing! Was given a demo on one the other day and have got it to review for the mag, it's a very very cool gadget!

Hang on until June if you can - there's a new one coming out. Historically they've released new hardware each June and with the leaked/stolen prototype the other week it looks like this year will be the first major update, rather than just speed boosts.

Of course I'm not dense!!
Having used a few blackberries over the last few months though, I have to say I'm not particularly fussed with them! It does seem to be that people are ignoring the merits of Android, symbian/maemo or iPhone because blackberries have free IM between handsets.

Or they just prefer them?

Re: Just got iphone
Some people hate using touch screens and like a full keyboard so that's why some people choose blackberries. I don't like them myself.
Can't see myself going for anything other than HTC/android again to be honest, they are awesome. I've got a Legend now and it is just that to be honest

For personal contracts maybe, but for enterprise BlackBerry's are far more manageable than any of the other handsets with the massive range of things you can do via policies on the BES.
TBH I went with the iPhone simply because it did everything I wanted it to do. It came down to that or an Android phone but the iPhone won simply because I have a massive iTunes library and I was fed up with carrying a separate iPod around.

And? Technically they are free text messages, rather than instant messaging. Very handy if you are out of cellular signal but have Wifi.

Re: Just got iphone
Jailbreak it, then you don't have to pay for any apps
Use google to find out how. It's proper easy and doesn't affect warranties or anythin like that

I doubt he can. Bearing in mind it's new it'll have come with 3.1.3 and the new baseband code. Every guide says to patch the 3.1.3 firmware BEFORE installing it.
Although given that almost every app is less then £2, buying them is hardly the end of the world.

I think there's a way to jailbreak 3.1.3 now.
It's not just about free stuff, you can also get things like backgrounder so you can multitask. Things that should have been on the iphone but weren't and aren't in the app store!

Re: Just got iphone
Well iOS4 is bringing multitasking and the ability to change the background picture of the home screen (and some other slightly more important stuff).... So still not seeing any point, lol.
The only reason I could see for me to do it was to turn the phone into a wireless AP, but I'm contemplating just buying one of the £40 ones with a PAYG sim for the infrequency that I'd use it.
