if someone is a named driver on my policy, and i crash and make a claim, does it effect their no claims?

Unless you're with Direct Line named drivers won't get a no claims bonus, therefore they won't be affected. If you are with Direct Line as far as I know the no claims is lost per driver, not per policy.
