Insurance policy knowledge
does anyone know much about insurance companys or work for one?
Because ive come to get my insurance again and ive looked into going on my mums insurance and i need to know if ive put the protected no claims down for her and i have a crash an have to make a claim.. it wouldnt effect her no claims but if she was to renew her insurance on her other car.. she would have to put down that shes made a claim and would it make her insurance go up alot? so the protected no claims only works for this one policy but no her other?
sorry tried to explain best i could.
cheers

Get your own insurance mate. Some policy holders will only honour the protected no claims if the accident was had bythe policy holder not their spouse or named driver.
It will be expensive at forst on your own policy but you're better off starting your own policy sooner rather than later.
To be a named driver on a policy technically the policy holder must be the main driver.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

for a 1.1 mk3 fiesta its £1600 an i cant afford it
if i went on my mums on direct line i can get named driver no claims so when i go to get my quote next year if i go with direct line it will count as if i have 1 years no claims then when i have a years on my own i can go somwhere else

You might get a year's NCB, but, if you have an accident, and it can be proved you are the main driver of the car (not very difficult) your mother's insurance will be invalidated, and you will have to pay out your pocket for any repairs. It's seriously not worth the risk.

go on liverpool victoria, you could insure that car in downtown beruit for less than a grand, mines i 1.3 in a high crime rated zone at £750 fully comp, as a named driver under ma mum with no ncd. she insures the family car with more than and iuses her no claims on that cos u can only use no claims on 1 policy, so if you crash and claim, they cant touch ur mums ncd. on a 1.1 it prob wouldnt be worth claimin anyway, for the cost of the excess you could buy another. just try it m8 itl make ur day.
