How much has been spent on your car?

General Fiesta and car related topics.

I was looking in the for sale section and saw how much people have spent on their cars....and i thought i was bad!
The main reason im selling mine is to get out of the unhealthy obsession with mods mods and more mods.
How much have you lot spent on your motors? Sometimes you look at a car and think 'Yeah that looks the t1ts' but dont really appreciate how much time and money has gone into it.
I must have only (i say only) spent about £2500 in a year on mine but im sure thats gonna be nothing compared to some of you.
Nearly all the work, (13k) was spent by the previous owner over about 1.5 years. I've got all the receipts in the car file. I, myself have spent the rest on repairs since I bought the car (about 2 months ago). Turned out the chassis was bent, and the gearbox f***ed. So a whole new front end has been built up (the only orginal part being the bonnet) and sprayed. This included new suspention mounts, anti-roll bars, track arms etc. And while I was at it I decided to get a hybrid T2 with 360 degree t.b. All this (including the gearbox) came to about 3k.

You might have seen the car, its a FRST featured in Fast Ford just over a year ago. Its blue, RS2000 sideskirts, mondeao roof spolier, escort cossie front bumper. The previous owners name was Ian. It was the first feature in that perticular FF (but not the cover shot. The cover was a black RST S2 with RS carved into the bonnet).

The specs on the Mag feature car pages is word for word from the relevent issue. PF said his was a 2.1, it's actually only a 2.0 and Ian span the Redline journo a yarn about Skyline engine transplant and they fell for it hook line and sinker...

Nothing wrong with my smilies...

Adrian.

THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF MY FIESTA TURBO SPENT IN THE REGION OF £20,000 IN 4 YEARS,AND IT PUT HIS LIGHTS OUT,SO AFTER 3 ENGINES LOADS OF CASH,HEARTBREAK AND ONE NEAR DIVORCE, I GOT THE BENEFIT OF ALL HIS HARD WORK FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST, PLUS THE 2.1 ZETEC CONVERSION HE HAD INSTALLED AT THE FINISH HAD NOT EVEN BEEN IN THE CAR 2 WEEKS AND ONLY HAD 500 MILES WHEN I GOT IT, NOT EVEN RUN IN. THE MOTOR IS ABSOLUTELY FECKIN SPLENDID AND HAS TAKEN ABOUT £4,000 OF MY WEDGE INTO THE BARGAIN.

[Edited by BOB THE BUILDER (19-08-2000 at 01:49 AM).]
