How gay is this?
Right i am on my mums car insurance with quinn direct and my mum has 5 years no claims so all in all i pay £130 a month, So my mum sent her letter off with her proof of no claims and they sent a letter back saying your no claims is out of date
How can a no claims bonus be out of date? and now my insurance is going to go up to £250 a month

Has your mum not driven for awhile? NCB can expire after 2 years of inactivity, some insurance companys will allow 3 years. Mate from work left the country to traveling the world, when he got back he no longer had any NCB.

Yes, it is.
Fezzy-no1, get onto your own insurance before you have an accident. If you're found to be fronting the insurance company you will have HUGE expenses in event of an accident.

If she didnt complete the full term of insurance and the old insurance is over two years old It is likley to be correct.
If your are the main driver then your mums NCB does not realy count.

fezzy-no1 :
What are you on abouti am a named driver on the policy?
I know whereof I speak. you've said it yourself, a named driver on your own car. if you are the main driver of the car you have to be the main driver/policyholder. If you are a named driver but drive the car more than the main driver , its called fronting. its illegal and insurance companies are cracking down. lets face it, how many middle-aged mothers are going to be driving modified Fiesta's around?
In simple terms, getting your mum to insure your car with you as a named driver is fronting.

Fezzy-no1, you can however get the policy in your own name and add your mum as a named driver to it, thats brings the policy down in price and its not illegal

Re: How gay is this?
i would argue the fact over the NCB, insurance compaines asre being right c*nts at the mo, lets face it with everyone losing there jobs and what not all these loan protection insurances etc are taking a right pounding and the insurance companies want there money back, so if i were you i would shop around and fcuk them off, provided you have it in black and white they should honor all if not most of the NCB.
as for being a named driver, thats not against the law, its when they ask who is going to be the main driver, if you say your mum and it is in fact you, thats when you have basicly lied to the insurance compnay and they can void the insurance, and not wanting to pi$$ on your chips, if you were to have a fault accident, they would more than likly look into it a bit deeper.
all that aside, i have always had my own insurance from the word go, and i highly advise others to do the same, yeah it can be expensive, but all the best things in life are not free lol, and if they want £250 a month for you as a named driver thats just a rip, that aint over 12 months surly not?
if it is, i deffo recommend getting your own insurance, shop around, play insurance compaines off against each other, they always get a high price and a low price and quote the high one first, that way they have room to compete with other compaines, so call round a load, expect to be on it for hours but it can work out worth it in the end fella, and with the insurance being in your name, your build up NCB which in effect, will allow you to get what you want sooner as you can afford it.
like me, i had a mk2 xr2 as a first car, and 5 motnsh after i was 18 i got my FRST, again insurance was pricy, about £1200 FC, but worth it mate, and i still have the rs now.
so shop around mate, and i dont mean these internet places, talk to real people on the phone, annoying yes, but you get further that way i fell, more so if you have a couple of mods etc
