Head Unit Interfernce

Postby D.J on Tue Mar 04, 2008 2:17 pm

When the engine is off, i do not have a problem, but as soon as i start the engine there is a low level, high frequency interference. It doesn't change level or frequency in relation to speed.

i assume this is caused by the alternator. I hadn't noticed it till i changed head units, then swapped them back and it is still there.

Has anyone got any experience of this or can offer any solutions.

Thanks.

Sounds like you need to fit a suppressor.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Whats that then mate? I've heard of a suppression capacitor before. Wouldn't know what value to use though or where to fit it?

I'm fairly sure they go in the power line (or perhaps the earth - can't remember) for the head unit. No more than a fiver.
