I brought a full xr2i bodykit for my mk3. ive only got the arches and skirts delivered so far, but i cant seem to get them to fit, iam doing it the right way!
On the front, the arches goes on, but it doesnt sit flush with the car, if its sat flat at the top the bottom is sticking 3 inch outward
Also mine has 2 black caps that pop off, one on the skirt and one on the back arch, i presume these are what you remove for jacking the car up?
I cant seem to get them to sit flush, just keeps scratching my arch, also am i drilling from underneath the arch and into the underneath arch of the metal on the car?
cheers

from what i understand u make small holes in the kit arches on the bottom bit, and this goes into the arch around the wheel, so u need 2 remove the wheel to get them in straight. This holds the bottom of the arch in

ahh i was right then, so they are screwed from underneath and glued on from inside of the arch and they then stick to the wing?

THE REASON IT IS NOT SITTING FLUSH IS BECAUSE YOU NEED TO CUT AWAY THE ORIGINAL FORD FIXINGS ON THE INSIDE OF THE ARCH ITSELF. THIS IS WHAT IS MAKING THE ARCH STICK OUT IN ONE PLACE AND FLUSH IN ANOTHER.
Not only do you need to pull the screws out, you also need to file down the sqaure shape rubber that they were sitting it, therefore making the inside of the arch tottaly smooth.[/b]

i got my right hand side on , ive got the bumpers on front and back, i screwed the front arch on in 2 places, then the back, put the skirt on and there is ahalf inch gap between where the front arch joins the skirt
I cant get rid of this gap, its the only way it will sit flush, im gonna just get it sitting neat, you cant noticed it as its inline with the door gap.
When i screwed that rear one on a big chunk of my rear wing fell out, this cars a joke, its done 76 000 miles on a L reg and its just plastered in rust you cant see!!
and it keeps slipping back into neutral as well when i try and reverse
ive had a good weekend, night night

I'm not too sure what you mean by RJM? I'm guessing they are fibreglass? If so and in all cases of buying aftermarket side skirts and wheel arches, you only really want the genuine set. These would be a lot easier to fit, and also look better. They also snug the car nicely as some aftermarket sets are slightly out of shape.
There was a post not too long ago about a lad who bought some aftermarket fibreglass ones, he got quoted something like £200 from a bodyshop just to have them fitted because of the trouble that fibreglass ones can cause.
Just keep searching, there are plenty of 2i's being broken at the moment, and remember..good things come to those that wait
