Guide: Replacing Reverse Light Switch

Postby Maff Si on Sun Feb 29, 2004 2:14 am

I finally got round to fitting my new switch today, heres a guide to removal and fitting, Enjoy :)

This is what you need, think they are around £7ish but dont really know cos i used the one from my old B5 Gearbox

The reverse light switch is situated at the front of your gearbox (If you don't believe me take a quick peek at your bell housing)

If you follow this there is no need to touch the undertray :D

It may be worth cleaning the electrical plug connections first incase its just dirty !

once you have established the switch is faulty by bridging the connector

loosen the switch with 22mm spanner then snap off the plastic connector :oooh:

this will enable you to use a socket and some sort of T piece to undo the switch :Q

Here is what i used for the job...

You will have to screw the new switch in as far as you can with your fingers  then use the spanner to give it a final tighten :D

The switch in your third pic down is actually an escort one, I don't think they work in a fiesta.

You can only use black ones I think.

Yep - useful information in there which is a helluva lot more helpful than haynes.
