FRST Rare Parts - Value
Hi All,
I know a lot of the FRST parts are considered rare - and I guess they are compared to 15 years ago - though aside from the green strips people still seem to manage to get what they need, so they can't be that rare just yet. They are certainly getting that way.
I thought it would be interesting to list the rarest new parts, and see what their market value is considered to be.
Complete set of Green strips £450?
Steering wheel £300?
Gearknob £150?

Re: FRST Rare Parts - Value
Silly prices really compared to when they were all available from Ford, but it's all supply and demand.
I have recently paid £105 for a brand new top radiator hose
The only thing I would really pay top top money for are p600 tyres ( I know of two brand new ones)
Exhausts I'm actually not that bothered about,
though it would be nice to have a genuine uncut one under my finished car, I'm hoping that when my car finally is ready to be shown I can put an advert next to it asking for the ultra rare stuff and see what response I get, you never know.

On the flip side there are still many bargains to be had out there,
I bought a brand new genuine suspension ( front and rear shocks) for mine recently for around £100
Brand new genuine fuel tank for £40, genuine fuel pump was £30

Suspension is an amazing find! Even back in the '90's it was incredibly hard to get new, as Ford discontinued it very early on and supplied 2i stuff instead for the Turbo part numbers! I failed

He has helped with a lot of stuff but not the suspension, I found a trader on EBay had listed a front pair so I bought them,
He then messaged me a day later and said that he'd found the matching rears which I could have for £30 !

Look on Germany eBay for the red leads you want to. Since seeing the amount of money carbonboy spent I done a little looking around on the German site. I got two sets on they're way as we speak which will be listed on eBay shortly

Re: FRST Rare Parts - Value
Guess I am lucky by there my girlfriend studied it back in the day in school. I just searched for ford 1.6 breaking and it didn't take long to find some there was both black top and red tops available.
How much do you chaps reckon a set of p600's is worth because that's my next find hopefully

Re: FRST Rare Parts - Value
There are always bargains to be had but I would honestly say FRST stuff is getting harder and harder to come by.
There is a lot of stuff that I've sold in the past that I don't expect to see again. I am sure I've got quite a bit still in my stockpile that is untouched for the MK3 Fiesta and no doubt I will find more when I start sourcing more parts again - I've been selling from stock for pretty much the last couple of years.
I would value a gear knob higher than £150, Green Stripes £500 a set easily now (RHF is the hardest to find), and the price of a steering wheel will always be limited by the cost of a good re-trim. The obession with the red top leads is somewhat daft unless your doing full blown concours and I don't consider them to be that rare or difficult to find.
The rarest items haven't really been mentioned - spare wheel cover as on Eddie's car, Rear Package Tray Stowage Boxes, Steel Sump Guards, Engine Undertrays, FRST specific hoses and engine parts. Suspension parts are mega rare - where the shocks you got Shaun the ones with the FRST specific part number though? Exhaust parts are hard to find and some of the panelwork is few and far between now.

Re: FRST Rare Parts - Value
Well,
I wonder how much my five brand new still with labels on p600 tyres are worth?
I would not sell them so please do not message me with any offers, but I wonder how much they would sell for? Although a limited market, as I am sure only a handful of people would want them, but it would be interesting to know what sort of money someone would pay? Or have paid for new ones in the past?
My friend once paid £1100 for a set 5 of brand new Michelin MXV tyres for his concourse series 1.
Look forward to hearing comments;

Re: FRST Rare Parts - Value
The front undertray was on XR2is. Ford never fitted them to RS Turbos as the heat generated by the Turbo was a major concern and underbonnet heat issues was a concern.
As for rare parts....Original tyres with stickers and other bits......they are only going to bought, if needed, by people like myself and a handful (maybe 5 or so ) of others who are going down the concourse route!!...Most of us have already got the items just for shows, so i would say that until these items are sold, then they arent worth anything stored in a loft or garage!!! ( i paid £30 for a pair of new P600s on ebay, and got the other three new ones for free!!)
Put it this way....If there was one fiesta turbo, S1, etc etc left in the world and they all had the rare parts already, then these stashed away parts arent going to sell as no one else will need them. Ive got all the red leads, P600s, Exhausts, etc etc, so i for one wont be paying silly money for a old 25yr old set of tyres, and once a few other cars are finished for concourse then i doubt their owners will either, hence this is where the items will become worthless!!!

I agree Edd, the P600 tyres are well past there use by date, and even though I paid a big price for my exhaust the other day I won't be paying anything near that for tyres !
I know of quite a few people with one brand new P600 tyre, again fairly worthless in my eyes
