Well Fanny is going off the road for abit, getting some minor PDR done and a full underside Hammerite painting, arches etc. IN RED!

Plus the roof is getting done in Ford Panther Black, and after that's done it's getting a full mop n' polish to make it Radiant Red again! :)

I've bought a ZS from my mate. Imperial Blue, went cheap. Couldn't say no, always wanted one. But don't worry, all my attention is on Fanny.

Pictures to follow,

James

Yeah I know, the Allycats were RWD offset mate, they fit alright, just the fact they stuck out to wide was the problem.

How did the PDR go then? Makes a BIG difference then I guess? How much was it per panel? I've always wondered wether it was worth doing, and wanted someone to tell me the results of it.

That is not bad actually. How many dents were there on one panel though?

I got a quote of £60 per panel with my local PDR man lol

I appriciate the Mk3 more, the ZS (If bought) would be just a car to me. Must admit though, they are very quick!

But Fanny is and still will always been in my ownership, love her! The fact I want to keep Fanny a 1.1 is because the HCS it has now, is so mint, runs like a god. Low milege engine that runs sweet and doesn't give me any trouble. Plus, it being a 1.1, it's cheap on insurance and petrol, which is good for me at the moment. Building my no claims up for something bigger in the long run is the plan. There will be a bigger engine in her soon, perhaps a 1.6 CVH, or along them lines. Obviously a Zetec engine would be ideal, as they're more newer, reliable engines. But the range is the 1800 and the 2.0 Zetec etc, which would be abit to costly for me, espically for a daily. I've heard the 1800 is a sluggish, poor engine anyway. Same with the Si engines, worth transplanting to my Fanny?...1.6 Zetec? :-?

1.1 powaaaaaaaaaa, with fast road cams, webber carbs. Hmmmmmmm, worth it much?

In all seriousness, I'm keeping it 1.1 for a while, just keeping it mint and maintaining it. :)

PDR (Paintless Dent Removal)

Specialists that either use special glue to ease and massage the dent out, or they use rods from the inside of the car, behind the panel to massage the dent out and flatten the panel out, to make it near perfect. Apprently results are really good.

Youtube some videos on how they do it, it's quite amazing actually. Can't wait to get mine done...

bloody s**t who ever told ya that mate, a 130 spec is barely a shade off the 2.0's, and thats only because they get theyre power sooner in the rev range

for what it is the 1800 is a cracking engine, only downer is you gotta source the cams for it, but if your to go for a 2.0 you still need the h.o & 2.0 tb, maf and ecu anyway

mine is good enough to keep me laughing, and keeps up with fiesta St's, cant ask for more from it... :)

ill likely get slated for this, but i dont care i know what my engine can do, but the ST owner didnt

i wouldnt bother tuning the 1.1 mate as it has been proven many times that the performance gains u get from tuning them is no where near worth the cash spent on it lol, maybe drop a 1.3 in if you are looking for something a little nippier as i noticed a big difference between a 1.1 and my old 1.3's and had 120 out of 1 of them :Q albeit downhill   and it had had a bit of work lol, but still and the 1.1 and the 1.3 look practically the same so i personally wouldnt insure the difference but that is just my opinion ( i am not tryin to persuade you to insure your car illegally, just stating that i personally wouldnt)

aswell with the 1.6 zetec again i dont think it would see the performance gains for the money to spend on it in comparison with a 1.8 or 2.0,
with the arguement between 1.8 and 2.0 IMO it depends on the money you have at the time as the 1.8's are relatively cheaper than the 2.0's and i dont think you have to source as many 1.6 parts for the 1.8 :-? altho i could be wrong here, but if you can get a 2.0 within your price range i would go with that for the extra torque personally...

either way loving the progress with fanny :Q looking as kool as ever :aviator:

exactly my point with the 1.1, why change a winning horse? my 1.1 is brilliant its quiet doesnt burn oil and it goes like a clappers for a 1.1 lol.

im gonna keep my 1.1 till i get a new car something with more modding potential and that doesnt rust, i want a ph1 clio sport next year, my mate had a track one was a absolute brute!.

i had 4 dents alltogether mate, big one on the quarter panel about the size of a melon, and then 3 medium ones on the bootlid all joined.

you want a different car everytime i read about you changing cars :P (this is genuine, not a dig)

in reguards to a 1.1, i honestly couldnt stick one long, a month infact and that was my first car, before it i drove my mums 1.6 chevvy tacuma (mini-mpv) so that had somethig to do with it i guess

the 1.3 i can life with if it were for eco purposes, its not too bad, but if you like a bit more omph go for either the 1.4cvh Si to keep things cheap (tax mainly) or just the 1.6 zetec (ghia or si) you can get some Si 1.6's to come with near ghia spec anyway, mine certainly is, and its a 3 door

Xr's and RS's are simply too much on insurance for me or people younger than me to even consider (im 21)

project wise, a 1.4 cvh with a 1.6 cvh in it to be sly, or a 1.6 zetec with a 1.8/2.0, again im not telling you to go out and do this but its easy to fool as theyre identical

in reguards to the 1.8/2.0 argument theyre reletively the same price, you can get either for about £100, but the 1.8 is much easier to find, i mean 3 cars from the 90's had them, ad no the 1.8 from the escort and fiesta will bolt right in with nothing to change (except maybe the escorts plastic inlet) but the 1.8 from the mondeo will need the same swaps as the 2.0 :(

To be fair, me and my mate were disscussing this tonight. The 1.3 HCS is actually a nippy engine, and would be a simple yet better engine to put in Fanny. Plug and play! Perhaps get better cams for it, paint it, tart it up!

I'm seriously thinking of actually buying and tuning 1.3, it's making me think... Hmmmmm

It's well worth thinking about. You can get some pretty good fast road cams for them aswell. Better carb, give the block abit of paint, sorted! Plus with a 1.1 gearbox left in, low ratio. Sounds good to me...

But I'll sleep on it lol

its literally plug and play, easy to get them out too as theyre so small you can access everything, i remember wayne and his dad actually used straps and manually lifted his 1.1 out of his old project car
