fiesta si 1800 105ps Deep ECU query!

Postby fiesta_rst2 on Tue Jul 19, 2005 11:55 am

hello, I have a fiesta Si with a 105ps engine from a L REG escort and i want to make it the 130ps. i've got the 2ltr camshafts and maf from a mk1 mondeo M REG but it had different inlet manifold so i couldn't get the throttle body and the ecu was wrong, but i can get hold of a DEEP ecu from ebay, but will all this combination work together? cheers, any help welcome, really need to get this going.

You can use the Mondeo throttle body but you need to switch the linkage for the Fiesta/Escort one and grind away the throttle stop on the throttle casting to allow the butterfly to open fully.

Match the MAF to the ECU spec - 2.0L to 2.0L, 1800/105 to 1800/105, 1800/130 to 1800/130 and so on.

Best of luck!

Don't put an ecu from a different displacement size engine onto your car as you will throw the load calculations the ecu does out. Find yourself an RS1800 ecu and MAF.

Not off topic, but a hijack!

I've got a Mondeo 1.8 ECU which I presume will be 115ps?
I've got a Escort 1.8 MAF which I presumt will be 105ps?

Should I match these both to the same spec? Just wondering as it hesitates when pulling away sometimes if I plant it

right so i now have 2ltr cams, throttle body and MAF. Will a deep 2ltr ECU work with all this on my 1800?

Project you seems to know your stuff :D . I'm running a 105hp Zetec with a 105 maf and 115hp ecu (BLOB). Mine miss fires a little when you tickle the accelerator but when the engine is up to speed it runs fine. Would you suggest that my ecu is the problem?

The DEEP ecu is not compatible with the 1800 cc engine. Calibration data is different for a whole range of items, e.g. MAF, engine size, injector size, fuel tables, spark tables and many more besides. This infomation is critical to getting the fuel and spark timing right and swapping ecu's without thought to the consequences will ruin your engine.

to make a 105ps 1800 the 130ps 1800 you do need a 2ltr ECU, it is a known fact i just need to know if a deep ECU will work with all my other bits from the 2ltr mondeo with the wrong ECU.

I am using a DEEP ecu on my 2.0, I do believe that using the DEEP ecu, 130ps (2.0) cams and a the 2.0 throttle body will work nicely.

As for this it not matching the engine cc etc, so what? yes the engine will be harder pushed as it will be producing more power. in swapping all the parts needed you are making the 1.8 flow air, flow fuel and spark the same as the 2.0 hence giving it more power.

Like I said I am running this setup on my 2.0, but with the same idea If i was to swap my bottom end for the 1.8 it would still run the same.

Having re-read the original post, I'd have to agree with Sailorbob - the 2.0L map is designed to produce the extra torque of the bigger and slightly-better flowing 2.0L lump; the 1800 won't be too happy with it.

Track yourself down an 1800/130 setup like wot 'e sez :D

Ollie - could probably do with the right (115) cams to match that lot; I'm guessing the miss is related to overfuelling.

Also worth trying to match the injectors to the engine output as Rhinopower swears the Zetecs all used different flow-rated injectors depending on output power.

No it isn't, this is a common mistake people make. Ford didn't use a 2000cc ecu on the RS1800 to get 130ps, they used an ecu set up for an 1800cc. Please try to use one of these and convert to external EDIS.

I agree, manufacturers try to fit the smallest flow injectors they need to keep emissions down.

sailorbob :Fiesta RS1800 ECU code:-

130.......??/??......92FB-12A650-DD / ALSO

Is there a change from ALSO for the later codes as you have eluded to in the other thread?

Did you say you might be able to replace the code on another ecu? Do you have the code for a CULT ecu? If so how much would you want for sorting me out if I provide a GURU ecu?

Unfortunately I don't have any rom code from any RS1800 ecu (though I have tried to borrow the ecu's to no avail). If I could get this to work I wouldn't want payment, you simply supply a replacement blank chip and be the guinea pig :)
