Fiesta Oil Usage

Problem or technical question?

Fiesta Oil Usage

Postby willobrien on Wed Jul 23, 2003 4:38 pm

My Fiesta seems to use up quite a bit of oil. On a 200 mile run it can drop from the MAX to the MIN mark and I have to regularly make sure it's topped up with town driving too.

Is this kind of oil consumption typical of Fiestas or is it a sign that I'm leaking/burning it somewhere?

Cheers for any help!
Will.

What sort is it?

My mum's 1.0L engine burns almost as much oil as petrol. However my old 1.6s CVH engine also had this for a while

Turned out some rubber seals somewhere inside had perished so the oil was being burnt. You could tell cos there was blue smoke when starting up.

Anyhow my engineer replaced those rubber things for the cost of £20 and it paid for itself in a month. Oil hardly went down at all after that and no blue smoke either. Bargain.

Stoned, you're talking about Valve stem oil seals.

1.1's usually suffer from worn rings.

Easiest and cheapest is to replace with a known decent engine
