Plans are to sort the niggles out, fit steel wheels, new management, B&M quick-shift (all from Ryan) plus a few other bits and pieces.

New windscreen, remove power steering !, relocated battery to the boot, change the rear exhaust box to a more subtle one.

Sort a couple of minor rust spots.

Fit new 'Azura' badge

Then get it mapped and enjoy

Cheers guys, after seeing it in the flesh it would of been such a shame to break it, so I thought I'd buy it, finish it and enjoy it.

I've had some nice cars including Escort Cosworth, Focus RS Mk 1 & 2, but I have a strange attraction to the Mk3/3.5 Fiesta.

I was so determined to take my Azura badge off mine, but slowly it's grown on me!

My exhaust wasn't OTT by any means, but it was verging on too loud for the likes of Combe, so I changed the system to a Magnex FRST system (bought off Excursion YEARS ago ), and changed the silly 3.x" tailpipe to one that was the same size as the rest of the system:

I miss the sound, however it's totally unnoticeable to anyone else. That said, my original plans were for a swoop down pipe like the 1.1, so when I get more time, I may still do that!

I'm after an outwardly rolled tailpipe around 2.5", so I'll look into that, I 'd like to get the car 'finished'
and mapped before doing too many miles in it.

Oh, is that an Escort MC/servo?

The one I was running in the white one was a Mondeo one, but I was never happy with the size of the servo or the pedal position/feel. I've got an Escort Zetec one about somewhere, but not sure whether to go with it.

Ups and downs today, I knew the car was a good one and it was confirmed today when I removed the windscreen and found zero rot in the scuttle !





But, for the life of me I can't get the new screen and rubber back in, I've tried for 3 hours, I came back in defeated,

I actually think I've put too much lube on the rubber as it was sliding around as I was trying to fit it, I'll leave it for a couple of days and hope it dries out

I've never tried doing a front screen; always scares me! Keep at it, though

I've never did 1 personally but every time I've seen a screen done, I've nicer seen any1 using lube

Anyway, the new windscreen is finally fitted, it took two of us an hour to do, due to the rubber being new it was such a tight fit.

Annoyingly after fitting I cleaned it up and noticed some light scratches on the screen, now they must of been there when I bought it as they are on the inside and the screen has only been laid down on it's front

So now I've got to try to get them removed by polishing them out, I need to do some research on what's best to use.

I'm waiting on track rod ends to arrive and the non pas rack can go in, also I'll be changing the cam belt, tensioner and water pump during the week.

I've also got to source a new injection fuel tank as well, cheapest I've seen is £60 from a company in Germany.

they are wrapped up safe and sound

Right, power steering, the majority of it is now been removed, I should have the manual rack back in tomorrow evening, it was quite a mission to remove it all

Yes, it will have a couple of coats of silver before fitting.

Time for an update me thinks,

Manual steering rack is now back in, I didn't realise before stripping out the p/s stuff that not only did I need to change the steering column shaft, but also the bulkhead grommet, alternator mounting bracket (which I've had powder coated ), all needed changing, this delayed everything by nearly two weeks while I sourced the parts, this has finally all now been done, I just need to get the tracking done when I tax the car.

Timing belt has also been changed along with the tensioners.

I was going to change the water pump but the existing pump has had a cvh sized end welded on, so without me having the same done to the new pump, again it wouldn't of fitted and I would of had to order a new coolant hose, so the new pump is being saved as I may have to upgrade the cooling system if it can't cope.

Fuel tank has been changed and I now have a working fuel gauge

Next job is to change the clutch quadrant to try a solve the wandering biting point issue on the pedal

I should then be ready for when Ryan visits with my ECU and quick shifter
