Engine replacement for the RS1800. Fiesta ECO BOOST
Okay some may really slate me some may not.
I'm currently running the fiesta RS1800 1.8 engine. I can't moan about this engine really as its done a serious amount of trackdays and has never really let me down. Apart from a water pump. However the engine lacks power. The only real
Way to enhance its performance is turbo, supercharge or throttle bodies.
Turbo charging the zetec will take some time and modification to get the right amount of power to be used safely on trackdays. Something that's not going to cost me 1,000s to build.
Supercharging is great to gain instant power without serious lag issues, pulling out of corners will be much better due to no real lag however will take a large amount of work to get it done.
The final option is to get hold of a 1.6 Eco boost engine out of the new ish, fiesta ST. It's already a well produced engine with some great figures from revo and other running company's without large amount of work. 300+ can be achieved really easy with small modifications ie - cooler, exhaust and few other bits. Buying the engine, box and loom ecu, can be brought as a whole for around 2,500. Building custom engine, box and chassie mounts can be done with small fab work.
The think the best option for a reliable and light solution would be the final Eco boost engine. At the moment I've not really seen it done, so not a great deal has been posted online. It'll benefit from a more modern reliable engine to be used on track. Easy power gains and of course, a much lighter engine than the zetec.
What do you think to the final option, or should I just stick to a already done zetec turbo ie - focus RS engine. That will be hard to sought.

eco boost all the way, wouldn't bother with the standard ecu, just go aftermarket and make a loom for it if one is not available.

Keep the standard engine and lighten the car as much as possible including lightweight wheels, fit good suspension such as some Leda's and fit an LSD box with lower gearing is what i would personally do.

I've gotta get my head stuck into all this new tech with the Eco boost and see what Ecus are around. Either way I'll wanna run custom management for sure. Syvecs do one but can't warrant 2.5k just for management.
Shafts, hubs are a easy work around. I know a guy who can get me some done at a decent price. Shaft ends of the current hub setup going into the gearbox shaft ends for the new Box. they are around 250 a pair of shafts and should last at 400hp.
Engine mounts I can mock up and then have them made up. I know a fabricator so that's all good.
I'm more pushed towards the Eco boost tbh
