Just a little heads up to anyone who normally buys their frst oil filter from ford.
FMC have stop producing the EFL500 oil filter and simply replaced it with the current 1714387 which fits all current zetec & all 1.25, 1.4 1.6 zetec se.
This is more cost cutting obviously !

So if you want an original oil filter for your concours car snap them up before they all get sold.

One little warning - if you have a zetec please don't fit a EFL500 to it. The old filter doesn't have a non return valve inside it but the 1714387 does. The replacement is ok for a cvh or Hcs but not the other way.
It may put your oil pressure light on for long periods of time every time u start up from cold.

Thanks for the heads up Clark. I always thought the Zetec E's used EFL 600s which have a slightly larger capacity and are listed as an alternative part for the Escort RS Turbo 132PS engine.

I try and stock the older style 'period' motorcraft filters where possible but they are not always easy to find and the condition can vary wildly depending on how they've been stored. I've not got any EFL 500's at the moment before anyone asks!

The EFL600 the "longer" zetec filter is normally found on the 1.6 , 1.8 & 2.0 zetec also the puma 1.7 uses this filter.
I have heard some ppl using it on a cvh as it's practically the same just longer.

But again the EFL500 filter can't be used on any zetec.
