Early bird catches the worm...
Just thought I'd share these with you guys. After being woken by a dog we're looking after at 6:15 this morning, I decided this might be my last chance for a while to get photos of a decent sunrise, so I went up to the top of Twyford Down and did some snapping. If anybody ever asks me why I'm proud of my part of the UK, I'll show them these pics. Welcome to the South Downs at dawn!
Looking towards Alresford and Alton:

Winchester:

Nature's stubble:

One of my favourite roads, the Morestead Road (leading from Winchester to Corhampton), looking east:

...and from the same place, looking west:

Sun just catching the top of the mist over Chilcomb Down:

And finally, because I couldn't resist, the Jaguar with Winchester rising out of the mist behind it:

...and the trails formed in the dew by the airflow over the bootlid:

One word - WOW
Love those photos Alex - looks really nice! I should imagine Autumn will give you slightly better results, too. (i.e colours etc)

Cheers all!
Nick - yeah, I'm looking forward to Autumn's colours and then I'm hoping Winter will bring us a few crisp, bright mornings.

Jamie - Thanks chap; I tried that angle from that location once with the Capri but couldn't make it look right. The mist certainly adds a nice touch!
Matt - Yes, you could probably see the road from Stanmore, I should imagine. If you look at the picture of the Morestead Road looking west, I think the buildings in the distance could well be the top end of Stanmore! Yes, I don't get up that early often enough. Makes you feel knackered later on in the day but it's worth it for a sunrise like that!
Swanick - Thanks buddy, long time no speak! Will have to catch up with you on MSN sometime. Winchester is a great base for a day of driving; current favourites for me are the Morestead Road, the A272 towards Petersfield, and some of the Roman roads between Winchester and Stockbridge - straight as an arrow! Some of the roads out towards the village of Crawley are pretty good too

Looks really nice round your way!
It was beautiful here this morning, I was wishing we didn't have to come into the smelly town centre to go to work
