Drink Drivers

Postby FiestaBen on Thu Feb 19, 2009 11:26 am

Saw this on another forum I use and just thought I'd see what everyone else's views are on this matter.

That incident could have involved someone I know as they were around the area when it happened.

What's your views on Drink Drivers and what do you think the punishment should be for doing it?

Anyone who even considers drink driving is a 'conquering device', to be quite frank. I hate that stupid people have the ability to make decisions that could cost innocent people their lives. Even if its just one, it still affects your judgement. I don't drink, but if I did drink, I wouldn't be taking the car with me!

Anyone else?

I hate them, there was a reply on the other forum from someone saying there friend had recently been caught drink driving and blew 2 times over the legal limit yet needs his license for his family and work and has now been sacked from work because he can't do his job.

All I say is.. "oh well," How I see it is one drink over the limit is one drink more towards hitting someone or causing an accident and potentially killing them, the limit is there for a reason and if you decide to break the law, then you deserve what ever comes your way.

People who drive whilst drunk deserve a good kicking.

I have no idea what makes people think they're fit to drive when they can barely stand up.

If someone needs their licence then they shouldn't do things that they know can result in them losing it. That's such a crap argument.

It's the same thing a lot of people said on the forum it came from.

Personally... I think that's ok... if you've had sleep, etc then there is no reason for you to be lacking concentration

I also agree with going out to the pub, having a pint or 2 and then drinking soft drinks for the rest of the night... bit of a bad thing to say considering I'm at college learning about going into the police force, as that's what I want to do

What gets me is it has been prooven that tired drives make more errors and have more accidents than those who drink drive.

I will admit to being over the limit as many have. even if they wont admit it. I had one accident at 17. This highlighted the danager of it to me, fortunatly £20 damage to my car only. I have driven tired and had 2 accidents.
Its more about being sensible and realising when you can and cant drive. But these days, its also about the law. I had a pint of fosters and a pepsie over a 1 and 1/2 hr period, one sat lunch time and I got a lift home and left the car their. I felt drunk. yet on other occassions I can have a couple of fosters and have to get a lift. because the law says i cant drive :x . what should cost like £6 for couple of pints turns to £10 as have to get a taxi.

As usaul is the minority that has spolt it for the majority. I think people just over the limit should be tester like in america. :Q
