Does anyone..........
miss the past?
I think about stuff like this all the tiime
Always end up laughing. When i get together with me mate for a night out or just a general long chat, we both end up bringing up classic things from the past. Just a shame things change.
I'm in a thinking mood so this will probably seem stupid to me tomorrow

Re: Does anyone..........
Yes, I do. Nostalgia is one of my greatest failings. I'm such a sucker for rose-tinted glasses; I always forget the things I hated about the past and only remember the good stuff, and end up wishing I was back there. I actually really dislike it and I consider it one of my most annoying traits because I end up getting all reflective and misty-eyed over stuff which nobody else seems to. However, since becoming more aware of it, I've managed to make myself look towards the future more than looking back towards the past, and when thinking how much better things once were, I'm sure to remind myself of the reasons I had back then for wanting to move forwards, and the things I have now which I didn't then.
My name is Alex. I used to have a Capri. I don't anymore. But I'm still called Capri.

Re: Does anyone..........
Hmmm I sometimes miss the recent past (like last couple of years - a lot of the stuff before that was a living hell).
But for me, everything's so much better now (wonderful other half, good job, own nice house, nice car etc etc) so although sometimes I might think the past was good, I look around and think, 'would I go back? HELL NO!'
Count your lucky stars and if you aren't happy with how things are, change them! It took me sadly all too long to figure this simple thing out! Thanks to my andymac on that count
[edit] just realised, if it's down to andymac, then it's actually all down to this forum. Freaky!!!

I know how you all feel, im pretty sentimental about the past, but then to snap myself out i force myself to remember the bad, and then i look to the present and future instead

Re: Does anyone..........
My friend and I shared a diary at school and we still write in it now....I dug it out when I was moving. I sat and read through it and was in tears...Took it to hers and we howled with laughter at some of the things in it
the quote of the book came from her 'he dumped me. But we were no way fridged, I gave him wanks and everything'
she was about 15 at the time
and sadly since digging the book out....well I cant say that the content has got much better tbh
except now it's all about work, mortgages, other halfs and children!
Looking back we were nightmares at school but had such a laugh and got away with it as we looked so sweet and innocent
we used to stick cheese slices to the underside of door handles and wait for people to go mad when they opened the door

You now know that you have to start a thread with the best diary entry entry of each month from the beginning. Would be quality. Proper good quotes in there. lol
My diary would have been shocking if i ever done one

I don't miss it, I've had some crazy times,
but I always look to the future, so many things to look forward to in life.
Its good to look back and laugh, but miss it ?, naa, not me.

Re: Does anyone..........
I think missing to me means would I go back? And I wouldn't. I've been really lucky in my job, I've got my driving test in a few weeks and my little 1300 Fiesta sitting at home ready to be RS'd... I do still think about the past a lot though.
Remembering the fun that was had at school (always got away with it to because we got on so well with all the teachers
), and some of our weekends even as 16yr olds were absolutely fantastic too.
It makes me excited about the future to think about the past, If I've got that many happy memories out of the last 20 years, how many more do I have to come in the next 60 years? (If I give up smoking
)

I'd go back in time to school and I'd do so many more things....well more mischief I guess I mean
I wouldn't study any harder, I passed my GCSE's with A'S, B'S & C'S even with glandular fever. Didn't do too badly at college either.
I went to spain, germany and all sorts with School. Just makes me smilikng about what we did then and still do now

sorry mate. lifes a sh!te. I'm only 20 and I'm looking forward to the future and all the good times to come, but try not to think about the bad things to come. Old age, everyone around me disappearing. Not nice to lose anyone. We've all been there mate. It does make you think about life totally differently though.
My big brother used to say look after your mates, cos atleast one of them will go before their time, I did the normal kid thing, shrugged it off with "wont happen to me" but when it did, it ripped me to bits. You do have to remember to good times I think, and look forward to plenty more, or you would be propa depressed.
