m4frd :Alright mate, im intersted in the clay products- ive never clayed my car before, its been polished 100's of times.

Do i use the clay then polish to make it shine after the wash?

What would you suggest as a purchase?

:)

If you've never clayed before, then you should go with the Poorboy's clay, which is a moderate clay rather than a weak one. Polishing can't remove bonded contaminants no matter how much you do it - claying is the only way to do this.

I've mentioned it before, but do the sandwich bag test to see if your paint needs a clay:

When you've washed and dried your car, place your hand into a clear sandwich bag, and run it over your paintwork. It should feel like completely smooth, wet glass. If it doesn't, and you can feel lumps, grit, bumps and a general lack of smoothness in the paint, it needs a clay.

You should always polish after you've clayed your car. The polish will return better results after a clay, as the bonded contaminants will have gone, meaning it can work to it's full potential on the paintwork.

Gareth :)

You'll need a clay bar, and a lubricant, and a M/F towel to wipe it down.

The clay bar is £8.95, and the detailer is £9.95, but i'm offering them with an FT discount for £17.90 both together. A towel will be £3.50, +P&P.

Once that's done, polish your whole car and you'll be able to both see and feel the difference...

Hello mate,

On FT, the clay bars kits (Poorboy's clay, with either ClearKote Quik Shine or Poorboy's Spray and Wipe lubricant, both cost the same) are £17.90, + £3.50 for the towel and £3.00 for postage. Total is £24.40. I can take payments via PayPal or cheque at the moment.

m4frd - as people who have bought stuff will testify, i include full personal instructions with everyone's orders - i don't just expect people to buy the stuff and get on with it. If you have any trouble, i'll give detailed back up via email or phone.

As Superal has said, the detailer is the lubricant for the clay, which doesn't actually go on the paint, it's a bar you rub across the paint, and it'll pull contaminants out.

As for how many cars you can do - that depends on how bad they are. If a car is really bad and hasn't been clayed before, you may only get on car out of the clay. You can split the bar in two, use half, and if you need to, use the other half or save it for another car. Some people can get up to three cars out of a clay if the cars aren't too bad, whilst perfectionists will always just use one whole bar on a car, and then throw it away.

Superal - no, no extra charges mate :)

After using a few products mentioned in this thread and a few more, see the results that can be obtained... (a bonnet I did today)

Image

I'd highly recommend the Wash Mitt & Drying techniques to stop inflicting marks, and the Red Moose Glaze and EX-P sealant will keep it looking good :Q

Nice finish - you've been out with the PC :) As a result of a few people showing interest, i do now carry the full SSR range for machine polishing, i'll get some pics done ASAP and post them up on the first page of the thread.

Nice looking car, with nice looking paintwork as far as the pictures show :)

First thing to do is to sort your washing technique, and switch to mitts and towels - you'll notice the difference and will stop inflicting marring onto the paint. The same applies to using M/F cloths to buff off products.

The best finish i found on Diamond white is:

ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze (this is actually a polish)
Poorboy's EX-P
Optimum Car Wax.

Use the 'sandwich bag' test to see if your paint needs a clay before you start.

Can u Give me a price on these:

1 X Mitts to wash the car with

1 X Cloth to the polish the car with
1 x ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze (this is actually a polish)
1 x Poorboy's EX-P
1 x Optimum Car Wax.

also claying does that thin the paint?
i did a test after i washed and polished the car and nearly 70% is smooth just some areas wing and other parts feel ruff and it feels like it needs buffing...

also price on the clay and Detailer pls..

No, claying doesn't thin the paint - it only pulls bonded contaminants from it, it has no effect on the paintwork.

Clay and Lube are £17.90 as an FT group buy.

The two mitts, drying towel and wash shampoo are available as an FT group buy for £34.50, or without the shampoo, the mitts are £7.95 each for the lambs wool and micro-fibre, and £8.95 for the drying towel.

The best available M/F cloth is a Poorboy's MegaMega Plush, which is huge and dual sided - one side with short nap for polish removal and one with long nap for wax removal. These are £5.95.

VMG is £12.95
EX-P is £11.95
OCW is £11.95.

Why yes Max I do, couldn't be without one any longer!

Cheers gareth, good to know I can get the SSR range off you in the future.

Another plus with the poorboys range is how amazing it was in the direct heat yesterday!

I would just like to say OMFG :o :o :o :o :o !!!!!!!!!!

This stuff is the fooking bollox!!!!!!!

I have just washed, clayed, polished, sealed and spray waxed my car and it is unbelievable.

I couldn't believe the difference the clay made. I thought that the contaminents (sp) on the car wouldn't come off. The clay got them off with no problems at all. The polish and sealent were so easy to use. They just wiped off with no hassle at all...

I cannot recommend this stuff enough.

Thanls very much Gaz, not only for supplying fantastic products, but also for the advice.

Hello mate, a full set up, that would work well on both cars would be:

Polish - ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze
Glaze - ClearKote Red Moose Machine Glaze
Sealant - Poorboy's EX-P
Finishing Wax - Natty's Blue.

For the first 90 days of fresh paint however, only the CK Vanilla Moose Glaze should be used. Use the others once the paint is 90 days old or over.

Great stuff :D I'm really glad you like the products, and my line up worked for you :) It's always great to hear positive feedback about the products and peoples experiences, and i love it that they're enabling people to achieve excellent finishes on their cars :)

I'm also glad you liked the clay - and you reaped the benefit of using a stronger clay - the Poorboy's one - rather than a weaker version like Meg's Quik Clay, which would have taken much longer to remove the contaminants from the paint, and possibly would not removed the worst of them. At the same time, you still seem to have found the PB's clay very user friendly, so a winner on all counts :)

Thanks for the feedback :)

Hi mate. A complete polishing package for red would be:

ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze
ClearKote Red Moose Glaze
Poorboy's EX
ClearKote Carnauba Moose Finishing Wax.
ClearKote M/F applicator (for the VMG polish)
CK Foam apps for the rest.
Poorboy's MegaMega Plush x2 as the ultimate in M/F towels for buffing off.

You won't be able to remove swirling by hand, apart from extremely minor ones. These products, especially the RMG will help mask them however.

You will get an ultimate shine from that line up. :)

As for egg, (unless you mean an eggshell/orange peel effect in the paint)what have you been doing to the car????

The only thing i found a bit anoying with the clay was that it can get really tacky and stick to your hands when you are needing it. But hey, that a small price to pay for the excellent finish achieved :D

I did have to go over the bonnet a couple of times and the rear wing under the window where the the panel levels off and then goes down. I did the two areas once and when i came to polish them they still felt aq bit rough, so another go over them and jobs a goodun!!!!

For future, I find it easier to spray your hands with the detailer spray if it starts to become sticky :Q
