After not being to a dentist for some time, i finally found one who didnt have a 6 month waiting list and popped along for a check up ....... i realy wish i hadnt!!

"Some of your fillings are old and need replacing and ...... oh ..... what is this little lump in the your gum"

after 3 x-rays we found it was a cyst ...... these form after dental work and some bacteria has remained inside, as it just so happened to be forming where i had a crown. The dentist quite happily said that it is vital to remove these as if it bursts the infected fluid can give you heart problems ....... i just about jumped out of the seat to start swearing and wanting to rip the head off my old dentist!! But luckily my new dentist assured me mine wasnt burst.

Fast forward 3.5 weeks, i get back from Angola on Sunday 26th, go to dentist on Monday in which he CUT open my gum to remove the cyst luckily i had a lot of the gum freeze injections and didnt feel anything. But i do now have 8 stitches in my upper gum

The worst part was having to part with £282 for the privilage

I know how you feel mate, ive not been for quite a while, and im quite nervous about going back, as i know he will drill out and old filling or 2, and ive got a hole in 1 tooth that will need done soon.
Its strange, the amount of brushing i do, and milk i drink, i should be able to chew through steel cable with no probs

A couple of years ago, I went for a checkup and was told I need some root canal work, I really don't like the dentist so missed the appointment then didnt go for a year

I've been back to the same dentist 3 times since and its never been mentioned

funny thread as i was only at the dentist last week for the first time in god knows how long i was expecting a bill as long as my arm but after my check up all i needed was a scale and polish.lol £16 well spent

The dentist told me I needed two teeth out and some fillings, which I would need to be knocked out for...... so I haven't been back since.

All the while I'm not in pain, I won't be either

The dentist said my teeth are perfect, and only need to go yearly rather than every six months from now on

Check up, pfft. I use the dentist the same as the doctor, I only go when there's something wrong. If my teeth don't hurt there's no reason to go.

Well i wasnt in any pain but i definitely saw the cyst lying on his little dish covered in blood when he removed it.

Its taught me to go at least once a year, just for a check up.

Check up, pfft. I use the dentist the same as the doctor, I only go when there's something wrong. If my teeth don't hurt there's no reason to go.

Exactly the same as me. If i get toothache i get an "emergency appointment" and get it sorted for like £20.

Last time I went I had my wisdom pulled out by a student who looked about 12, only she couldn't do it and had to get teacher in to do it for her

Thats what they wanted to do to me Thats when I decided I didn't need dentists unless I was in pain....! Fook that!!

Once the 2nd one is removed will you instantaniously become a bit thick?

Well when I've had the second one removed I'll be left with one sort of half wisdom tooth, so I won't be very wise at all
