Last weekend I went to view a sapphire and couldn't let it go.
One owner from new - full service history from a ford dealer. 106k miles garaged from new.
Totally standard - never been modified. All original pipe work never even seen a dump valve.
Even has a new standard ford exhaust system.
Only done 4000 miles since 2004

I have the original badges with the service history folder.
Previous owner was a old fella I think and didn't want everyone knowing it was a cosworth.

Jay - it's the first car I've owned that the mrs actually approves of !
It's comfortable , has 4 doors & a big boot for shopping

I plan to get a 4x4 vented bonnet for it then get it professionally painted.
As under bonnet temps are extremely high with that big turbo.
May even put tiny bonnet raisers on just to let a bit of heat out the back of bonnet.

The smoked rear lights will be on it next week when they arrive.

Clark, read between the lines mate.. The missis approves, because it's big, 4 door and big boot, so, kiddy seats easy fitted in back and easy to get kids in and out, boot is big enough for pram and push chair as well as shopping.
Leather seats make kiddy sick and piss when nappy leaks, easy to clean and keep clean.

Break the Rs ? I'd rather set fire to it than break any of my cars.
Can't bring myself to sell any let alone undo all the hard work that's gone into them.

I grow attached to motors that's my downfall. It broke my heart selling the other white Rs that I rebuilt h885sep.
I have rejoined passion ford but mainly to source parts etc. Fiestaturbo.com is where it began for me so I will stay put.

Im exactly same bud, ive broke an let go of some very rare an uber clean motors in my time and hated every
second of doing so..always said if i had a hanger they'd all still be here but needs must at times.............

Same with my turb its never gonna get done now but i just cant bare to scrap it off, rather leave it to rot tbh least i still got it in some form then ffs lol.

if your having problems with overheating, sort out the rad and thermostat
and i definetly wouldnt be driving that in the rain. if it stays the way it is imagine what it will be worth in 10 years

Yes this is correct - trying to source one as we speak.
It's a black plaque that completes the dark look.

I haven't got overheating problems , the car runs like a dream and temps stay low but the bonnet gets bloody hot. Too hot to touch even when up to running temp. The paint has crazed above the turbo from the heat over the years.
It needs a respray and some sort of heat reflection material underneath. Or a vented bonnet.
Actual steam comes off the bonnet when it rains !

Don't worry tom, it's not going to see a dump valve chopped into the original pipe work. It's all staying as ford intended.
Any changes I make will easily be swapped back - like lights etc.

Been looking at a 4x4 bonnet for cooling reasons.
The exhaust is a fairly New ford system & would be criminal to get it all off for mongoose system.

The std system is far too quite as it has double rear silencers.

Took some more pics for the insurance company so thought i would share them on here too.
Today i put right the rear doors as the central locking stopped working on them. So i sourced the replacement motors from ford, removed the door cards & trims then replaced motors. All is working now

I also had a slight water leak into the boot area when it rained last few days - originally thought it was caused by me fitting the smoked rear lamps but turned out to be the aged seam sealer between the rear quarter panel where it meets the rear lamp panel. Removed rear lamps & used new ford seam sealer - its the best i've ever used , goes off like rubber. So just need to mask up the guttering and rear lamp areas when weather is better & give it a quick coat of mercury grey to hide the white sealant.

Next job is to remove the front calipers & send them off to be re-manufactured as the RH front caliper is slightly binding. Where its been sitting for so long the pistons are sticking. These are the early 2WD calipers with 4 pistons per caliper.

I may do - once the badges go back on. I've always a wanted a sierra or an escort with the smokes on.
I do feel it's such a std example that I should try keep it that way. Any changes that are made are easily put back again.




I ripped out the moss alarm which was completly installed using these horrible things.
