Been a while since i updated this. Not a lot has happened really. Managed to tidy up the wiring in the bay a bit. Fitted an RS 1800 TB which made a massive differnce past 4k. Had a lsight problem with the car drinking petrol, which i hope ive sorted by replacing the ecu coolant sensor. The car seems to idle much sweeter now and also the exhaust fumes dont seem to smell quite so much of neat petrol! Things left to do on the engine side of things is to heat wrap the manifold and fit my HO inlet. Then when i have some more spare time fit my new brakes.

Other things are, bought some mk5 rs2000 rims today, only down side is they are white. Going to have to spray them silver but heres a few pics :

(Please excuse the dirt the roads round here are covered in s**t!)

RS2k wheels :?:

The tyres on the wheels are all 50 profile and not only do they look massive and gay but the rear left also rubs :roll: So im going to get them changed for 45's - spray the wheels silver and try fit them again - dont really want to get into cutting all my arches away though, i had enough of that years ago on my xr2!

Let me know what you think,

Gareth.

An adjustable panhard rod should sort the rubbing on the rear. Looks good though :aviator:

the rs2k rims do suit the mk2 i have to say, thought about getting some my self.

sort that kurbing out on one thought mate, passanger front, that edge is proper bent over.

with 45's you should be ok and not need to cut arches

Well spotted jay - the bead is bent over a bit - the tyre stays inflates but TBH im a bit concerned about it - do you think the wheel should be scrapped or is there a way it can be repaired, ie a hammer and bend it back the right way, lol. ?

it doesnt look to bad tbh mate, it just looks like the outer ridge.
i would have a pop at beating it back out mate, but when you go for the tyre change, get matey to spin it up on the balance machine with no tyre on to see if its buckled, if its not all well and good, if it is, scrap it and get another, or use it for a spare

Hi all,

Not updated this for a while. I never fitted those rs2k wheels in the end as i could'nt be bothered with the rubbing etc so i have sold them now. A couple of weeks back i fitted these new items to the car :

Image

Image

Image

Just really a good freshen up as the old discs were shagged the engine mounts were knackered & who knows when the fuel filter was last changed. I also fitted a new thrttole cable gromet to the bracket as the old was split meaning i could get nothing more than half throttle all the time! At the same time i fitted some new ignition leads aswell.

Oh also won this & fitted it as well now :Q Absolute bargain of the centry!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0361412951

Sounds quality & really freed up some power down low in the revs not so much after 4k though. Tomorrow i will be striping the rear seats & parcel shelf etc out because :

A.Its sold old it dos;nt have rear seat belts.
B.Therefore no one really sits in the back
C. It saves more weight :devil:

Pics & update tomorrow,

Gareth.

All four tyres needed replacing for 45's though at ATM i just cant afford that plus they all needed painting as well. Maybe if/when i ever have some spare cash i will get another set.

Was well chuffed with the zorst though :Q

Well as promised heres todays small update. The rear end has been striped.

Has made quite the differnce as well to the acceleration side of things, on a private track it gets to 100 in no time what so ever. :oops:

Thats about it really heres a few pics of the beast at the mo:

Only other thing that i hav'nt mentioned is that i bought a brand new k&n kit for a 2.0 mondeo off the bay for £12 and fitted that a little while ago as well. :D

Next job is on the rollers to check fueling, etc then fingers crossed on to castle combe for the track day in late April.

I love it mate!!! 100% top work there!

On your fuel pump do you get any surging at all? i wanted to go that route but was told i would get surging at low fuel levels! i managed to by a fuel tank with swirl pot & fiesta RST pump fitted for £30 which was a steal so just made more sense to go that route in the end.lol

Ive got to ask as well did you find the xr2 exhaust restricts it much?

I cant say it enough tho...i love it :D

SMO : Cheers chap, up next well i want to get it on the rollers to check everything is ok. Then the next bigish thing is the drivers side rearwheel arch needs replacing as its rotted out. Then i want to take the pepper pots of to give them a new lease of life because they are in a terrible state!

sk8xtrm - TBH with this tank i do get surging which im quite annoyed about, its when ive got around 1/4 tank & only round left handers, does get on my funlumps quite a lot. But i have about three or four spare mk2s lying around as well as a complete xr2i so one im going to fit the internal pump & swirl pot from the 2i in the mk2 tank...one day. Regards the exhaust yes the xr2 one is very restrictive for the lower part of the revs, i noticed with the new bigger bore of the scorpion its a lot more responsive below 4k.

Jay i have two xr2's & two 1100cc. one of them though, infact most you can see in the pic above. The red one close'est is an xr2 but i ve stripped to a bare shell and its going to the scrap yard soon. Its been sat there for about 7 years because i bought it as a spare all those years ago when i owned by Black xr2.

Might be able to sell some bits but most i want to hang onto because parts are becoming harder to find now.

what about bits of the shell?
would you cut bits off? only ask as i need to doing the arches on my xr2, inner and outer bits, i would like to avoid patten parts if i can.
there was a mk2 down the scrapy near me, went back 3 days later armed to the teeth to get the metal off and it had been crushed :(

Hey buddy i got one quick question for you if you dont mind! and JAYRS if hes reading this :) im having a small issue with my car struggling to idle after the choke has gone off! Now i think i may have made an error in my wiring and wanted to clarify this with you if ok! im using an si loom like you and ive wired pin 4, 5 & 8 into ingition live on the mk2 loom! from re-reading guides im not 100% i should have done this so wanted to ask you yourself what you did with the wire from pin number 5 & 8?

i think im right that 8 needed to be ignition live but really not 100% on pin wire 5. sorry to ask just wanted to see what you did with this, i cant be that far off because she does run...just very rich and rough on idle and cuts out alot on idle!

In advance thank you mate :)

Concerning pins 5 & 8 the black/red and the black/green on the car side must meet each other and have an ignition live
black/green is the power feed for the iscv and black/red is for the hego sensor they read off each other so need to be joined together. What i done is join the wires together then i wired a switched live to them as well, i used the old anti run on solenoid wire which used to have a rubber boot on it and plug into the carb.

so can i just clarify then its literally 5 & 8 spliced together and link in an ignition live to them! and obviously elsewhere there is another ignition live to the ecu directly :)

so i found my problem then :) i didnt splice together 5 & 8!

did you put any fuses in line mate or direct to each wire without a fuse

Yep join 5 & 8 together and then find your old anti run on wire chop the rubber boot off, and join it in with the two above. I will try and get a pic for you, only thing is all my wiring is neatly covered up but i will have a look for you chap.

Regards fuses, think the only one i put in was for the main iginition live to the ecu. All the other wires were straight foward.

Heres what i followed when i wired my 12 pin plug in:

1=brown=earth to body
2=green=rev counter
3=brown=fuel pump relay earth
4=black=4amp ignition live
5=black/red..to..black/green=iscv
6=red=ecu power from battery or fuse box
7=brown/green=not used
8=black/green=iscv ignition live
9=brown/white=temp guage
10=blank
11=blank
12=brown=not used

Well heres another update to this thread. Ive just finished fitting the xr2 kit to the car, IMO it looks tidier now as its covered most of defects on the car like the dents on the front valence etc. Just needs a good clean now. I had to restore certain parts of the kit mainly the two side skirts because where they have been sat in the sun they go rough like sand paper. So i had to sand them down using wet & dry along with a bar of soap! Was hard work but now they are back to nice smooth condition again. 8) Next on the list is fit the new bonnet then there will be no dents!

any way heres the pics - sorry their crap will get some better ones soon.

Re: B reg fiesta 2.0 zetec *update 03.05.09 gear box blown!*

HI all,

A small update really & not a great one either. Yesterday afternoon the gearbox decided it has had enough of being mated to a 2.0l zetec and has experied in quite a dramatic way.

Came out of a junction joining a quiet B road, gave it some welly in first went for second and there was an almightly bang followed by loud clagging noises - managed to free wheel to where i was going (freinds house). Had no gears none would work, popped the bonnet and if you grab hold the passenger side drive shaft you freely move it up and down & all around really so i think the diff has blown up!

Not a major issue really I have lots of spare boxes so will pop one in over the evenings of the coming week. Will get some pics as when progress starts.

Gareth.
