1990 Ford Fiesta RS Turbo, Thame, 2600
Up for sale today is my 1990 Ford Fiesta RS Turbo.
I bought this with the intention of getting it back to looking how it came from the factory and I have mostly achieved what I set out to do however I now need to sell this to help raise money for an impending house purchase.
The last picture was as I bought the car asthetically although it was also smoking.
I have spent a fair bit of money on this in the few months I have had this as it was in a bit of a sorry state.
New parts to include:
turbo
valve stem seals
front suspension
timing belt
service items
genuine ford front amber indicators
boot decal
I have also fitted various used parts including:
full set of green mouldings
original side repeaters
leather gear knob and gator
When I bought the car it was evident that it had some issues as it was smoking quite a bit, I initially thought it to be the valve stem seals so purchased a complete head set, after changing them made no difference it was deemed the turbo was at fault so a new cartridge was sourced and fitted and this has now rectified the smoking.
The car has been resprayed at some point in the past and whilst it is perfectly presentable, there are some issues with the passenger door as pictured and also the roof rails and mirror bases have been painted and in my opinion, this looks a bit crap. Easily sorted however.
The underneath is actually in good order as the pics show, there is evidence of previous welding etc but it is now a 22 year old car. The petrol cap area is also in good condition
It has a few modifications which are as follows:
Alloy intercooler
Forge uprated actuator
powerchip
beige injectors
samco hoses
rear coilovers
front uprated shocks and springs
full stainless exhaust with 4" outwardly rolled tip
induction kit
boost gauge and water temp gauge although water not wired up.
There are still a few bits that need doing, ideally the hoses want binning off and replacing for new. It had a rolling road from last year at 161bhp but i reckon it needs setting up by somebody other than power engineering as if in high gear and full throttle, it can overboost and cut out. It sounds like there may be a boost leak which is why I would recommend at the very least, new silicone hoses without all the joins that this has.
The fan is as it should be and not on a manual switch as most seem to be these days. Fan turns on as and when it should and the temp gauge also reads as it should.
Even though I have bought a new timing belt it has not yet been fitted, this was mainly as I needed to be sure it wasn't the rings causing the smoking issue.
The new spark plugs etc have also not been fitted but are included in the sale as well as the clear lights, some spare fogs, a brand new old stock ram air panel filter, centre console and gear knob.
The boot has been delocked and dewipered although I cannot get it to open on the switch, haven't really looked into why as this was low on my list of priorities.
There isn't a great deal of history with the car although I have kept the receipts of my own purchases etc.
There is valid mot until August this year and the tax expires in February.
The wheels are in good condition and the tyres are all nearly new Firestones.
This is a nice useable classic which, with a little more time and money could be made to be a nice daily or weekend car.
If you have any questions please feel free to call or text on 07771 857417.
The car is located in Thame, viewings are more than welcome with at least a days notice.
I will also require a deposit of 100 GBP within 24 hours and I expect the winning bidder to make contact within 2 hours to prove that they are genuine and the car collected and paid for within 3 days of the end of the auction.
On 18-Jan-14 at 19:09:29 GMT, seller added the following information:
Knew I would forget things throughout the listing.
I would love to say that this is a 1 owner car but unfortunately it is not, the V5 shows 14 previous owners throughout the 22 year history of the vehicle.
The car also appears to have been off the road for 5 years between 2008 and 2013 at which time, the mileage went from 96554 to 87836. Make of that what you will although it seems a bit daft to clock a car by 10k miles when it is clearly show on the mot so it could be a clock change, either way it has dropped in mileage. It is currently showing around 88k if I remember correctly.
