XR2i 8v Vs XR2i 16v
Just wondering what the perfomance differnces are between the 2?
which would people go for out of the 2 cars??
I've heard a lot of stories regarding both motors but just wondering which performs better? Ive heard of the 8v is much better and heard the 16v is also better!!?!?
So Id like to know! which is better?

My car is pretty much XR2i 16v spec, and I love how it goes. The only thing is the power seems to die off after about 5.5K I'd say.
Unfortunately I've only ever been in one XR2i 8v and that was a couple of days ago. Felt about the same to me I guess, but this one had an Ashley manifold and system, whereas mine is totally standard.
If I was to find an 8v and 16v both in the same condition, I'd most likely choose the 16v.
Thank you for reading my in-depth review
knuckles - If you can prove an 8v is quicker than my 16v, I'll agree with you, but until then

I'm only going by the factory bhp figures when they rolled off the production line. Wasn't referring to anyone's particular car.

Oh I know you weren't referring to anyone's, I just used mine as an example
I would be very surprised if there was any real difference between them, that's all. But I guess the figures have to come from somewhere...
Edit: That wasn't a dig either by the way knuckles, was just a light-hearted comment

Its down to personal preference tbh, both have their good values and bad values, and both are quite easy to tune. Id personally go for the 16v, as its a more modern engine, and IMO smoother than the 8v, but thats my opinion. Just make sure which ever one you go for has been looked after mechanically.

Look they are both crap
Neither would even be listed as a mildly warm hatch now with a feeble 110bhp and useless brakes and suspension. The best thing that could be said of them (and this has always been the case) is that they still look decent with a change of alloys
