Because some little ch@v crashed into me in my last car, and the scrotum managed to persuade the insurers it was 50/50, so the insurance on the 200 will rocket loads when the renewal comes in next month

LOL yeah shes been spoiled with the cars she had. Saxo VTR, Fiesta Zetec S (1.7), Mondeo ST TDCI and now the Mondeo ST200 but its down to a 1.6 Focus next lol. Plus she was going to be insured on the FRST but after the crash she couldnt unfortunatly

Work has started on the old girl took windows out, handles, locks, stripes etc so far found some rust on the passenger side wing mirror area this will be cut out and new bit welded in place.

Over all very happy no rust round sunroof etc next are bumper and arches off god help me i hope its not to bad!!!!!!

ive seen them rust there before jony, not common place for them to rot though, the mk1 and mk2s are a nightmare for rot on the doors like that

Must admit i had never exspected it to have gone on the wing mirror so we'll have to see what the arches are like.

Alot of cars go under the mirrors its just one of those places water can collect.

Looking in pretty good shape there anyways Tim. Hopefully it wont need anymore welding and they can get on with the good work

Right been down today not been able to get down much late last week so here we go.

They where waiting for the windscreen to be taken out so not a whole lot got done late week but today they have got on with it some of the arches are off and they have welded the wing mirror area also they have taken a closer look at the petrol cap.

Good news to report all arches are very good odd bit of surface rust not all mounting holes are mint no rust on them at all very pleased with it. Also took a look underneath while on ramps and its good underneath as well its had two plates in its life time but been done well. Also good to report its got a ford exhaust on it but the backbox is not genuine so the search for a genuine ford backbox starts anyone got one?

I didnt have my camera with me today so they have been took off my phone will take camera down tomorrow to take more piccys.

that wing mirror bit looks like tis been ground and filled rather than cut out and new bit made and welded in

Agreed theyve not welded that.

The paint around the area hasn't been ground back far enuf to weld without it blistering and burning cos of the heat. Also you'd be able to see the heat effected zone around the welds. I'd be asking them to do it properly if I were you man. filler is ok for dents but its no replacement for metal.

I would also get a new panel put in were the filler cap is as it will just be better as it looks like filler city at the moment. It may cost a little more but you know it makes sense.

Apart from that the car looks in real good condition. I'm very impressed with the state of the arches.

no its probably fine dude it just looks s**t cos they havn't rubbed back the filler. Just assumed that was what was left of the old repair

nothing to do with standards mate, i didnt say nothing about filler repair, after all your going to have filler over it when a repair panel is put in to get the final shapes.

i just commented about the mirror area as it looks like what i said, filled not repaired, and it will deffo come back, and i would hate for you to have it all done, for in 6 months time its bubbling back up and you have to have it fixed again, thats all fella

The mirror section i will deffo be asking then about as they told me it would be welded cant say i would have known how to tell difference and i didnt want it filled as it will just crack in that area sorry if i sounded arsey just been a busy day. Trust me guys if i feel at all they are not doing what im after i will be letting them know im very picky when it comes this and my money lol.

All i want at end is very good paint job im not going concourse its going to be used.

thats the thing mate, if they filled and painted that you wouldnt of known untill it was too late, just as well you went down and not left it till it was painted
