Looking for a new mobile phone at some point his week, does anyone have the Samsung Omina? Good or bad points with it over the Tocco or iphone?

Omnia!! Omnia!! iPhone is overhyped crap. Still no video, still no MMS, I managed to crash one twice in 15 mins.
Windows Mobile 6.1 with the omnia software is fantastic, thousands of FREE addon apps too.

Re: What Mobile? Samsung Omina, Tocco or iphone
been in orange today and played with omina.
iphone better to use better system simpler etc and music and all that.
omnia seemed more professional so to speak with it being windows based. touch screen thou seemed a bit iffy on the omnia and had to press harder to work some stuff but that could have been me thou again.
either phone looks nice thou so all personal taste really.
i got the iphone today as liked it more but i think the missis will get the omnia as more usefull to her at work and the likes.
not sure how ya go thou with the net on the omnia 02 is unlimited and he said aslong as you dont spend all day streaming movies you'll be fine kinda thing. dont know thou how you would stand cost wise on orange with the omnia

I was leaning towards the Omina myself but as my mate has the iphone I dnt want that route, also the lack of MMS and Video would drive me mad.

I'm sure it doesn't - Apple had the cheek to proclaim that "nobody used MMS any more".
I'm more of a Windows Mobile man myself. I really, really don't like the iPhone. lol

Re: What Mobile? Samsung Omina, Tocco or iphone
got the omnia as well yesterday so i can compare both to them
iphone is far better screen much brighter and looks alot clearer. the omnia reminds me of a normal mobile screen bit blocker and washed out.
data input on the samsung has loads of options which is good like normal keypad, keyboard etc.
omnia if you use normal keyboard it's almost impossible with bloke fingers to touch the screen, so you need the pointer there for lookin like a girl with a phone charm lol, but has alot better options like i said,
within 5 mins of playin i had crashed windows on the omnia lol tried to take a pic ond got error messages about being out of memory etc. you have to load up task manager and then close everything down manual, it even says this in the manula, which imo is a bit crappy.
omnia comes with far more features installed like office which is a bonus if you need that plus you can upgrade the mem if needs be and it comes with 8 as standard. were as ipod once ya buy thats it.
iphone can plug any head phones in and away you omnia needs a twatty interface to plug in just to use the norma headphones, which plugs in the side of the phone making phone wider and missis says it's a s**t idea and she dont like that.
charger port is on the side of the phone with the cover on so you aint goin to get a simp dock charger for it, like the iphone one just drop on and away ya go.
there just a few examples. so for general internet, music etc get the iphone. but for a windows based system then obviously get the omnia has msn etc but screen imho is no where near the quality of the iphone.
oh yeah iphone cam sucks lol omnia dont seem to pad if thats the main thing that your goin for

You can get free task managers to shut things down when you press the X.
We all have different opinions, but thats a nice review, cheers. I'll still wait around for the HTC Touch Pro rather than getting an Omnia (let alone an iPhone, that comes stone dead last for me at the moment).
Having had a play with an iPhone 3G (and seen others with it), it does randomly freeze and catches up with itself - almost like its being starved of available CPU cycles. I also don't like the idea of one hardware button. Other things that put me off are the non-replaceable battery, non-replaceable SIM card(?), and non-expandable memory, and the device is fairly hefty, but the touchscreen is amazingly responsive
I'll always prefer "proper" devices
, but thats just me and the way I am

Re: What Mobile? Samsung Omina, Tocco or iphone
yeah the battery thing is a bit gay on the iphone i will admit that
if it does ever crash how ya turn it off ya cant just pull the batt out lol
as for the non replaceable sim if you mean the main one then you jus slide it out simple as that
mine aint froze yet so give it time lol
as for memory i got 16gb what the hell am i installing to fill that lol. omnia only comes with 8gb installed and you can put 8gb in making it at the most 16gb
bit of a bummer thou that you need to install stuff just to close programs on the omnia surly if you click close you mean close but there is always sumin that you would change on a phone no matter what ya buy
oh yeah if your also a muppet like the missis the alarm is a gammon slipper to set up and you oversleep in the morning

Re: What Mobile? Samsung Omina, Tocco or iphone
one feature we did see on the omnia which was kinda cool but also kinda WTF was a part that when you put the phone on it's face it only rang in silent mode turn it over it rings normal. so if you in a meating etc face down dont ring.
but it was a few options deep to turn it on and off so surly if ya walkin or it goes in a bag or sumin face down it wont ring so you wouldn't want that on all the time but was more buttons to turn it off than just use silent lol

Re: What Mobile? Samsung Omina, Tocco or iphone
lol. Must have been the first gen iphone i'm thinking of, i'm sure the SIM wasn't replaceable (as the phone is locked down to one network per country (silly idea))
16Gb is enough I suppose (unless my entire music collection wanted to go on there (all 40 gigs of it!!!), but with the SDHC cards now available most SDHC phones support the new 32Gb cards

Yes it is, as the memory on devices since WM5 has been flash, so doesn't need battery power to work. Don't have these problems on my e66 nor our lass's touch diamond...

WM6 uses flash memory, my xda with wm5/wm6/wm6.1 keeps its memory - probably a fault. have you seen if there are any ROM updates for it?

Re: What Mobile? Samsung Omina, Tocco or iphone
iphone is an overall better developed package, took me about 5 mins to learn how to use it and does all it's jobs well. i've used various versions of wm and they never seem to be particularly good at doing anything well, i havnt tried wm6 but certainly the dell and HP devices that i have used on 5 havnt been the most stable/compatible out of the box.
iphone is just as gay though anyway.

Iphone better for email. When I get mail I get told. The missis has to login to check hers all the time.

Its not! Its not its not its not its not its not. Its too big, too "yoof", and too hyped.

I've had WM5 (not extremely good), WM6 (better), and a cooked ROM with WM6.1 (fantastic). I have everything I ever need to browse the web - two choices of web browser, google maps, windows live search, visualGPSe, I can browse the file system, I can customise the file system, I can view MPEG/WMV/M4P clips and more, listen to MP3/WMA/M4A/OGG audio, push email, and so so much more.

No questions asked, 100000000% agreed
InS@[ERRR] :Iphone better for email. When I get mail I get told.
With mobileme you do, or exchange. For example I have my own Exchange server and have push email, I get told when I get mail. Also with WM you can set it to send/recv every 5 mins which to the end user won't notice any difference between that and push email.

Yep - with PocketCM Keyboard so can I, also with the phone pad, or any number of other input devices. I can send texts through Outlook!

Use IMAP instead of POP3 for email and you'll effectively get push mail.
