Uprating FRST brake servo
Right folks need a bit of advice im fitting the full mk1 Focus rs braking system to my FRST
and im wanting to uprate the servo & master cylinder. Thing is I know that a mondeo servo & master cylinder is a direct fit but getting a mk1 or 2 item with the 4 ports is proving difficult but I can get the servo itself easily & I have a mk5 xr3i 130 servo & 4 port master cylinder but someone has suggested using a hybrid of mondeo & escort parts ......is this possible? I know I need to shorten the rod on the escort cylinder to suit but has anyone else done this? Any advice would be great before I start butchering perfectly good parts

Re: Uprating FRST brake servo
I had'nt thought of doing that tbh Mikey
very simple solution too! How far did you have to space it out and what kind of difference did it make, was it significant? Really need a better pedal with more braking force & with the focus 4pots i'll be moving alot more fluid

Re: Uprating FRST brake servo
Iv got a mk5 servo an master on mine be improvement over the mk3 one.i shorten the rod on mine i read it needed to shortened by 20mm but cut mine at 18mm.once u got the hanger off the rod drill it out to the biggest you can i think its about 10mm hole.becouse i left the rod a few mm longer i was able to file a step on the end of the rod so it inserts into the hanger by a few mm then weld it on.it seemed a stronger way of doing it rather than just weld it on as it's located better, the only brake lines i had to remake was from the bias valves to master, the other 2 u just slightly bend to suit.only other mod is you need to elongate the holes in the mounting bracket as the servo studs are slightly different to the mk3

Re: Uprating FRST brake servo
I put spacers on the pedal where the studs come through the bulkhead and where the servo bolts to the bracket for the bar from the pedal , it was just metal i had lyin aboot so i didny mesure it id say 10/14mm there was a bit of adjustment in the rod from servo but no that much if i remember
i had to open up the holes to fit the servo but if your doing it keep the brace for it that bolts on the iner wing ,ill need to fit mine back on and aye mate it made a big difference to mine but id had brake probs for a while and iv got drums and 260 rs2000 fronts so nothing that big and im just running brake pipes straight to the wheels no laden valve on the back
