Heres some pics of the work that went on Saturday.... old bumpers came off and new ones went on, side repeaters changed back to orange (Dont ask why.... I was quite annoyed :x)... old lights back on for the time being, and thats about all really :)

Not very exciting but I was out most of the time the work was being done :( Festers gone now, step-brother has him as he is back from Canada, but it does mean the cars tax'd and ready to go when I get on the road!

Just got the smoked rears from Mikey which I'll probably keep on, but I'm so torn between the two!! Don't need to worry about that for now though!
I think clears look over the top on white cars, the smoked ones give it some contrast... but just a personal opinion really.

Even if I had been driving it now I would have driven it about standard looking (outside anyway) because I wouldn't wana fit bits that aren't painted right.

Front bumper is white (needs re-painting and the new fog light surround fitting)
back blumper is black (even if it was the right colour, that would need a re-spray)
skirts and arches are dark blue (so they definately need re-painting!)

Also... tempted to wait until I can do the exhaust and wheels too...... but then I'd need to do the alarm first... ARGH!! Decisions!!!

I don't really know what order it's gona happen in, but it'll be happenin alright :)

To be honest Alex, I love the lights that are on it at the moment. You need to be really lucky for smoked or clear lights to suit a car and I prefer the ones that are on it in the last picture, I don't think your car would pull off the smoked lights, or clears.

When the time comes for the lights to go on, do a post with a pic of the smokes on and the other lights on and a poll so people can vote. :P

Looking great, top notch work.
As you say looks better debadged at the back, so much more cleaner and it doesn't cost a thing.
Just needs lots of patience. I guess I'll be doing that this weekend as I keep going on about it.

Sadly selling the tinted rears now due to a massive lack of funds to get anything else done, need money to go towards paint, primer etc for the bodykit. need a wiring kit and switches for the fogs too if anyone could supply? (once the lights have sold). Would consider discount on the lights for p/x wiring and switches etc ...

Postby BigUKG on Fri Jan 16, 2009 2:16 pm

So a small update.... I have a new plan for driving and a bit of news about the car!

Well I've decided I was getting to worked up about driving lessons and driving tests, which I think just shows I'm not ready!! I wan't to be at the stage where I don't worry or get nervous about just having a driving lesson, which I have been. I think it's linked to some of the problems I had when my week intensive course came at a bad time, some of you might remember me writing about that on here back in mid Aug 08. I'm doing good for money at the moment, so I've decided I am going to insure the Fiesta when I get paid (Jan 23rd this month) and get driving it!! I've been aching for so long to get driving my little Fezza and I am so excited about being able to!! I have a mate whos 23 and she's offered to take me out in it as well as my step dad, which is really cool :).
So magnetic L plates on the way and starting to look around for insurance good quotes! Anyone know who's particularly good with First Time drivers??

I've also paid for a set of RS1800 shocks and springs for the Fiesta now and so I'm on the look out for another couple of bits.
- Front and rear anti-roll bars
- Full wiring for fog lights

I can't think of anything else at the moment cos I'm too excited about driving the Fiesta!!!! :aviator:

We just saw something fly up the windscreen but took us ages to work out what it was

Won't be cleaning the Fiesta today, because its gone again in case his car fails the MOT (now its had new wheels and a new exhaust to get it on the road)..... better than it being blocked in the garage which is where I thought it had gone when I couldn't see it outside last night. Hopefully I'll get a chance to give it a wash and get some pics, but its looking pretty standard apart from the rear lights tbh.

Such a pain that the bodykit all needs painting, I need wiring for the front fogs, tyres for the wheels (want 195/40/16 Toyo Proxes on them so wont be cheap). Got the suspension coming from an RS1800 which apparently will drop it 20mil lower than its sits on standard 1.3 suspension, and then I'll need an exhaust!

Still plenty to do!

UPDATE If my car isnt back to be cleaned tomorrow I might crack on and get the bumpers all sanded down and ready for painting!! buuttt a couple of questions. I've got some 600, 800 and 1200 grit wet and dry floating about which I've brought for sanding the body kit down, and the mirrors when I come to do them as well. Can someone give me some tips on sand the kit down?
I'm thinking I only need to sand the paint off but dont want to go back too much? and not sure what grit to use, whether to use 600 to start and get finer, if I should actually make it wet as the name suggests??
Sounds like such a stupid question, but never done any of this stuff before so any help appreciated.

Probably a bit late now but yeah start with 600 grit and work your way up to 1200, that's what i've just done with my bumper and it's ready for primer now :)

As the title says, getting a 1.4 16v Fiesta. On an R plate and needs a bit of work, but for £150 I'll take it :)

Quite far from the low insurance of the 1.4 Golf but sticking with the Fez (even though its the no character Mk4 as opposed to Mk5).

Well excited!!! Probably go and get it this weekend all being well, so there will be pics if I do!

It'll be left at my Dad's house until I can get it sorted (needs a bit of work on steering and a new wing). Anyway, Insured the Mk3 Fiesta on my provisional so going to get back out in that, get some lessons in and get my test re-booked, in the meantime it'll be paying out a bit of money to get the Mk4 done.

Urgh, and the Mk3 is due an MOT probably at the weekend that'll need to be done too, so plenty to keep me busy!! If this post doesn't make sense, its because I'm excited.

Yeah, I do like them. Not keen on the front ends of MK4's to be honest but so glad its a Ghia and its black with fog lights so no complaints from looks apart from the dull front headlights and grille. The MK4s do just seem like the designer started at the back trying to make improvements on the MK3, then when he got to the front he just couldn't be bothered.

I do like the engine and interior on those Ghia's too... no complaints there.
