I've heard people saying that you can get recon engines from ford, though never tried it myself... yet! (until i blow my st170 lump
)
Interesting about the cam situation though as I tried ordering a replacement new standard CVH cam from Ford for my sister's XR2i a couple of years ago and ford said it was a "special order" and that they're made in Germany
I waited a MONTH for the illusive cam to materialise and ford just said they couldn't set a date for it to be due-in.
In the end I went to piper and ordered the closest cam they had to standard, (which gives 6bhp over standard). Not sure whether Ford hardened the standard cams properly either as they did wear out RAPIDLY
or whether the lifters were too hard for the cam lobes
Good luck with the car mate it's coming along nicely

Update
Mainly today i got on with Fitting the turbo and water pipes. I'm still awaiting new o rings for the injectors so couldn't properly assemble the refurbished Efi unit. So i mock fitted most of the engine components until its all ready.
Anyway i let the pics do the talking...
Turbo placed on - I'm guessing the blocked off water pipe shown with the red arrow must connect to the turbo here... i need that pipe.
Closer picture
Starting to look like a engine bay again.
Close up of turbo - Do the following in that pic connect up ??
Picture of the xr2i looking very sad & lonely - missing out on the attention
Some kid broke off my electric mirror
Exhaust manifold Fitted with new gasket and new brass nuts. Not bad for someone who ain't got a clue what goes where and not a Haynes in sight
Getting there.... mock fitted Radiator and intercooler, coolant hoses, and charge carrier. Cheers Nomad for the roose hoses
Comments welcome

Wahey! That looks better! As for the water hose/pipe pics/questions, I'm no use as I've never worked on a FRST, but they seem like logical assumptions
The AMAL valve usually sits between the actuator and the compressor housing, and acts as the boost control valve
So sorry to see/hear the 2i mirror was nicked, what an absolute sh*tter of an area

ill also have a look in my spares box to see what water pipes i got, they wont be samcos just standard water pipe but might have something so you can connect both water pipes up from the turbo

I forgot to say...please will you measure the length of the clutch lever arm on your gearbox? Wherever...just tell me where you measured from and to, then let me know...it looks as though it could be a mysterious "short" arm.

Oh do you work on the car Jay? Looked as though it could've reached to either hole, and the parallax doesn't help judge which it is!

theres 2 arms for the fiesta, 1 is that one and the other has a big weight on it, and seeing as thet dont have the weight on it then its gunna be same as my one aint it, lines up to the outer hole.
mind you so does the one with the big weight on it as i fitted one to a mate FRST years ago.
cant say in all the years ive been working on cars ive every come across a fiesta that has the cable in the inner hole and been right, in line with the arm that is.
maybe this "shorter" arms were fitted to mondeos or something as they had a different cable set up and adjusted gearbox end not pedal end

hi mate, forgot you were running t2, the pipe on the water hose was blocked off as I ran t3, you just need a lenth of hose and connector to extend it to where you think it goes ( it does go there )

Whats left to do :
Fit both drive shafts into gearbox
Re-attach gear selector onto gearbox
Fit injectors with new o rings and fit fuel rail
Connect all water and boost hoses
Fit alternator
Fit radiator/intercooler properly and wire up the fan
Finish fitting interior, seats, carpet, trims, door cards, mirrors etc
Fit new fuel filler pipe as current one has been modified for alloy fuel cap.
Oil change/ new filter
Change cossie brakes from xr2i onto the Rs
replace old rubber brake hoses for goodridge hoses
Bleed brakes / new brake fluid
Fit rear beam
Fit full exhaust system
Weld bonnet catch pannel pack on - fit bonnet catch
Better get started

Jay/AW3K - Cheers guys, there are a large number of variations of clutch lever arms on Fiestas/Escorts/Mondeos, and they all get muddled around, was worth asking
knuckles - I find it massively useful and important to make lists like that, you'll find it makes you much more efficient for a number of reasons: a) You know what needs doing, b) you can prioritise and c) you can tick stuff off as you complete it and get a feel for how well you're cracking through it

Another update
More tinkering today - the rain kept coming down today. So i got on with the interior. Took carpet and recaros out of the xr2i and fitted them in the in the Rs. So much time consuming.
Rs1800 steering wheel needs a clean. White dials fitted, indicator stalks fitted, center console fitted.
Magnex Stainless system delivered - £80
Need to connect the boost valve up. Need to get some vaccum hoses. Also just worked out that this other thing is a washer pump for the cossie headlamp washer jets.
Where does the boost valve mount if no air box is being used ?
Pictures please people
Also should i fit a standard Rs breather pot ?

Seems you're making good progress from someone who was so scared of doing it all! Interior looks farrrrrrrr more civilised now, and I can't help but think the painted white parts look a bit odd now, after all I said

The Rs turbo saw some daylight today as we fitted the Cosworth brakes from the xr2i to the Rs and switched over the wheels.
Finally got those drive shafts back in - alot of mucking about with poxy ball bearings when your hands are covered in cv grease. Thank you Jayrs for the suberb advice on how to get them in and a gold star for adam for actually doing it.
Also Fitted the goodridge hoses while doing the brake calipers. Then discovered the car actually has a rear beam ! Doh
I assumed there wasnt one as the handbrake cable was just hanging on the floor....
Blue strip was removed by adam as he couldnt bear looking at it no more
Mk3.5 Tailgate bolted up nicely - Thank you max ww
Rear mondeo wheel fitted - loving the ride height on the spax coilovers.
Bonnet Re-fitted - yes i know it needs a clean
Bit blurey as it was getting dark - Front wheel fitted with cosworth 4x4 brakes.
