Re: The Recaro Fiesta - Cylinder head rebuild
More bits aquired lately. Aint got the urge to start working on the engine just yet.

timing belt tensionier

brand new ford clutch - bargain of the year at £22

brand new gear selector spacers and springs. should sort out that worn feeling

I know ive gone a tad overboard here buying stuff but i couldnt help myself
every single gasket has been purchased including a ford head gasket.
I need to nitromors the crappy blue paint off my engine block then clean the assembly lube off all the internals of the block. Engine build wont begin till the new year i imagine. working 6 days a week now leaves very little time.
updated pics now added.

niracka :That looks real nice mate. Hope it proves to be worth the money you'v spent.
Get some pics of the ports up man

exhaust ports

inlet ports

pictures of the ports as promised.
its only a mobile so not top notch pics but u get the idea. The inlets are baby smooth and exhaust are slightly rougher.
Rob i got the stickers from a guy on ebay who reproduces them. they were £14 when i bought them over a year ago.

fcuk me, that machining on the face looks rough.
i know it wont (as i am a engineer lol) but i would of thought he would of done it another way rather then use a end mill, or even still, done it in lines using the feed

I would have thought a random rough finish on any gasket surface would be a good thing? That does just look shinny to me though

its a improvement on what it was like before i sent it off anyways
Ive asked ghost to find out for me how much skimming a flywheel will set me back. As ive got 3 of them lying around i wont miss one being sent off to get done while getting on with the block in january.
Has anyone got any contacts on who does it local to london and how much it cost ?

Once you take the car off the road and fit all it's new parts ect to make it like the day it rolled off the factory line I hope you never drive it and just dry store it for the next 30yrs !
but then again I wouldn't blame you if you did drive it
Looking good above by the way

Cheers fella. When its all done i will be using it as a everyday commuting car. I dont have the luxury of a dry garage in London.
I have gave a company called Jenkins engineering a call to see if they would give my Cvh block a look over to make sure the crank, pistons, block etc are all ok and have been rebuilt properly. They quoted £45 labour charge to do all the tests which aint to bad for the peace of mind.
Scott69 :just curious how much did them gaskets and bits and bobs come to? if u dont mind me asking of course
Well so far the clutch, cam, head gasket, tensionier, belt, nuts, bolts, oil pump etc come to well over £350 and thats a rough estimate fella. Not including parts and labour for the head re-conditioning.

Clark, out of interest, if your going for the standard/orignal look, how come you dont have a genuine turbo front bumper?
Also does your car live out on the street?

I always thought the turbo one didn't have the holes for the grill as the turbo never came with one?

thats correct, the turbo bumper didnt have the holes and it had a small cut out to allow room for the fan

its the only bumper i could get hold of at the time of rebuild. The bumpers are identical as jay mentioned except the 3 holes and the tiny cut out for the cooling fan. When it gets resprayed at one point i plan to fill the holes.
unfortunately being a everyday, commuting car in central London i don't have a garage or even a nice private driveway

Yea i work for ford parts. I'm one of the many that actually know how to use microcat. The door pins are available from fordparsuk i believe. Ford only do the fiesta mk4/mk5 pins now don't know if they differ at all.
A Lot of stuff on mk3 fiesta is slowly being removed from service but serviceable items will be around for some time like engine components , suspension , bushes etc.
