Right thanks for the help guys  , I am running a bit of rake too, only about 10mm but I tried it with running the rear end about 20mm lower than the front and the car just wouldn't turn into corners whatsoever. It transformed the car when I lifted the back end again.

Thanks as well Heeman for confirming that. :)

Cheers buddy :)

Hi everyone  Just to let you know that I've managed to dredge up a couple of the original pictures of my converion work-in-progress that people so badly wanted to see when I first posted pics of my project.

These ones are BIGGER so you can see the bits better :) .

I've posted them on PAGE ONE of this thread back on the original post so as to keep it all in the correct order, I think it would be silly to post pics from last summer on this page :-?

Pleased to see those new pics dude, though that's quite a bit of work massively condensed there! Very very tidy installation dude, glad to see you value Halfords mix-to-match paints too :D ;)

Was wondering exactly how you went on with the engine mounts off the ST170, into the Fiesta but that conirms everything! Serious respect to you with the amount of work that was involved with the installation :o :o :o :) !

Just to change the subject slightly if I may m8, was it January 2005 your Throttle Bodied Fiesta with Connaught Comp Engine was featured in Fast Ford??? As I wouldn't mind having a look at the feature :D

Cheers, Dave

The most recent purchase for my fez - A HEATED FRONT SCREEN!! Yippee! :P Not the most exciting thing you can get for an RS Fiesta I know but they are a godsend in the bad weather :)

I've owned THREE RS fiestas and TWO XR2i's but NEVER had one with a heated front screen before

Got EVERYTHING for £40! Can't grumble at that :Q

Me and a mate fitting it tomorrow...

Good purchase, I keep waiting for something to smash my screen so I'm forced into buying on. A stone smacked it a couple of weeks ago, didn't break it though :x Interesting time of the year to fit it though Jimmy!!

 Just goes with my eccentric character! :P

Looked on Knuckle's FiestaGuides site (I recommend it to anyone) which gives a step-by-step guide to fitting. It's not rocket science IMO but it's still good to check the information especially as it's free :Q

OIL-POD fitting

Postby jimmyesh on Thu Feb 15, 2007 5:10 pm

Anyone got any idea where this would fit/look ok in the fiesta mk3 dash? :-?

It's the Focus ST170 "oil-pod" that came with my clocks, I already have the wiring in place for it and it also incorporates other lights such as ice warning etc.

Seems a shame not to use it but I'm at a bit of a loss of where to fit it?

If it comes to it, I'll bung it back on Ebay but I just thought I'd pick your brains!

What about making a plate to go where the centre air vents go? Not sure if there is enough room where the other clocks are?

Yeah I think it would fit in the centre vent aperture, I would just have to get some fibreglass and make up a panel for it. Will miss having some vents in summer though!

Yeah that's not a bad idea mate cheeRS! I think I'll get another dash shroud (i think that's what it's called :-? ) from the scrappy and modify it and see how it turns out... If it looks crap, I will have only lost a couple of quid.

Like I said before, I would prefer to keep my air vents in the car (as my anglo-saxon carcass will be sweltering in the summer otherwise!) and as the wiring is already there for these gauges then it's a shame not to use them. :)

I have a capillary-driven 52mm Revotec Oil Pressure gauge That I'm gonna replace with an AFR meter, so that will be up for sale cheap soon.

No problem. the dash surround is 2 layers of plastic so if you cut a hole in the top layer and recess the guages as far as possible, they shouldnt be in your field of vision too much. :)

Woo! FT sticker! :D Glad the screen's in and working...now that spring's here  :bonkers:

As for that little gauge cluster...hmmmmm. Those things are always so damn deep, I think it'd sit really awkwardly on the binnacle/shroud/cowl there, looks like the best bet will be to get it bunged either right in the A-pillar/dash corner, or sitting in that useless "tray" on the right of the dash on top. Lovely shape, but a nuisance to fit onto the Fiesta dash neatly!!

Oi! I thought we were still in Feb :-? That used to be winter until our climate went all "pete-tong" :bonkers:

Yeah been thinking about this gauge issue and I'm thinking of just reinstating my Revotec oil pressure gauge that's on my A-pillar. Capillary oil pressure gauges are more accurate anyway. And my engine is still pretty much standard (For now! ) so I don't really need to be watching oil temp too. :)

I'm bunging that oil pod on ebay, sod it!

Not exactly in the line of sight though dude!

Jimmy - Don't give up on it, as you say, it'd be a shame to have such useful OEM instruments wasted :)

no its not i know, but was thinking more along the lines of putting it somewhere which wouldnt look to much out of place.
piller pods are good, but pods on the dash surround would look to out of place IMO

Cool project!

How about mounting the gauges into the top of the dash and then use some perspex (the top of a CD case is perfect) to make it into a HUD?

Perfect - of course it will only be visible when the lights are on or if the temperature reaches near zero, but it'd be a selling point! :D

Thought I'd rescue my beloved "MANJ" from the doom and gloom of page 9!!

July Fast Ford landed on my doormat this morning with my car on the front cover! :D (small pic IMO  ).

It's such a nice feeling to have all your hard work immortalised in print, although I never really built it with the intention of getting it featured, I just built it to drive it!

Here's a couple of "photos of photos" to show what the feature looks like :D

Cheers to Neil@FastFord (pornstar) for making it all possible
I gave FT.com a shout it the "thanks" column in the feature too! :D
