stupid xbox
Hey,
I just bought an xbox 360 off a friend for 15quid as it has the dreaded red ring of death. Is there a simple way these can be fixed or is it a case of sending them off to Microsoft to be fixed? Ive had a look on the net and seen that some people have fixed them by wrapping them in towel to make them overheat but I dont really fancy doing that! Is there anyone on here that is able to fix them or could point me in the right direction for it to be fixed?
Thanks guys
Mark

Re: stupid xbox
A few mate have done the towel overheating thing, but it only works as a temporary thing, its has happened again a while after.
Best thing to do is send it off to microsoft for a proper fix, i am sure they give you a new warrently for a certain amount of time after they fix it, or someone might know how to fix it properly
I would send it of to microsoft personally

They should fix it anyway mate.
A mate bought on in the same situation and they fixed it, dunno if it was free or not though.
Have you tried looking online for a price?

Re: stupid xbox
I don't reckon it would cost more than £50 at the very most, but don't quote me on that.
They should do it for free really as it something that due to them not soldering something properly in the factory.
Even if they do charge you £50 for it you still got an Xbox for £65, which is still a bargain
Hope it can sort fella

Re: stupid xbox
If you go only and the console isn't registered then you should be able to blag its always been yours and get it fixed for free, if not I believe the fee is £60, which still figures out quite well.

Re: stupid xbox
as mentioned if its not been registerd, they have extended their warranty to 3 years on the Ring Of Death, you will get it fixed FOC, if not the standard fee is 50 quid
