Spraying Bumpers
Im thinking about spraying my bumpers myself. Went to a few places and they all said about £200 for the 2 and thats taking them off myself.
Been reading a few of the posts by other people. and just wanted to know what to do for definate.
It seems that halfords are the best place to get the cans from?
How many coats should be alright? etc
Or if theres a really good guide somewere would be good
tks

Re: Spraying Bumpers
prep work is the bulk of it - the finished article is only as good as the prep before it.
http://www.carsprays.co.uk/ should help a bit

Re: Spraying Bumpers
road trip travis
120 is a bloody good price for a professional spray job on 2 bumpers.
I paid 200 last year for one bumper to get a respray on a mk4 golf.
Do the prep work yourself . . .

Re: Spraying Bumpers
Halfords Diamond white is a good match providing you get it custom made using the correct colour code, i had this arguement with a customer the other day. He was adiment that there was only one shade of it until i showed him all the listings on the computer i have for Ford Diamond White which is in excess of 140 different formulas. Fair enough these are very slight differences but you'll notice them if spraying say just a door as it'll stand out against the rest of the paint.
Ford have been using this colour for about 20 years so there is expected to be a few variants over that timescale. And to top it of ford don't even put the correct paint code all the time eg My car V5 colour code, lists an orange and a silvery blue colour, real code is V4 (my car is Ash Black)
But back to topic at hand Halfords custom mix paint is good and the nozzles on the Holts minimix cans they use are really good for spraying
btw the paint is still cellulose as opposed to water base also so spraying is easier
ps sorry about the rant
