Sport Cats - How much do they affect noise level?
As I'm now using a later shell for my track car, I'll need to run a cat within the next 12 months for the MOT. Now this could work in my favour as my last sound test at Castle Combe was bang on the limit of 100db (if I remember rightly!).
If I was to add a 200 cell sport cat to the system, is this likely to quieten the system at all? If it does, then I can retain the current system (which sounds great on track
) without risk of failing my next sound test.
Otherwise, I'm going to have to change the system for quite a boring sounding Magnex again
Cheers!

Compared to a non-cat equipped exhaust, yes, a 200 cell will make a noticeable difference.
100 cell is when things start getting negligible in terms of sound and smell.

Are these 200 cell cats expensive?

I think most I've seen are just under £100. I've changed the exhaust now for my next track day and will worry about the cat later in the year!

Not sure, but I believe the Magnaflow sports cats on eBay are OK.
I'm running a Tony Law 4-2-1 manifold that never had a cat. It was connected to a single box system but for the moment I've changed it to a 2.25" Magnex FRST two box system to get me through the sound test. I miss the noise a bit, but the Zetec with the turbo Magnex actually sounds very different to a normal smaller 16v Magnex... I quite like it!

Not in that one I didn't, but the new one that everything has been put into, I do. However I've gone over to FRST wishbones and not done the tracking yet, so it's all over the place!
