serious electrical problem!!! help needed urgently!!

hey guys..put a new stereo in my 2i last nite..when i turned it up to a certain volume, the stereo would turn off then on again..also when i turned lights on it would turn off and not come on again. so had a mate sort it today. central locking went funny..when i unlocked it,it would just continusly unlock,lock,unlock etc etc.sorted this but now my interior dash lights dont come on except interior light. fogs wont turn on either!! please..i really need help! thanks everyone!

Nuffin..the lights still stay off...(but the light for the clock works) sorry this worked before too..but thats the only one that does..

a process of elimination i'd say. try taking the stereo out and checking wots been done to the wires behind. it may be that you've knocked some out of place in regards to their connections as it may be causing a short.

who fitted it???
how was it installed?(crimped,soldered,iso connector block)

its a pioneer DEH-P6003R.
i installed it with help from a mate..
a iso block and theres 3 extra wires that are crimped that i had to plug in seperatly.

theres a:
yellow wire
Red wire
yellow with grey stripe

and a brown one but that had eleccy tape around the end and i dont [ERRR] it was used.

you may have blown the fuse or even mad an eareth from a live connection by shorting it.

its got to be a short or open circuit, and the wired u crimped were the live and earth feeds, check the connections are all sound and that the right wires are connected remembeing that the colours of wires probably wont match, so check perm live and ignition live are right way round

how loud is it when it cuts out?
do the symtoms differ when the engine is running to when its not?

lol...cheers for ya help peps..got the problem fixed...but now central lockings playing up..(not a related issue i was told) ifi try and unlock the car from drivers side..it unlocks then quickly locks again...have to open passenger door quickly..then open drivers door from inside. i think the term for the locks doin this is ''bouncing''. i was told to take off doorbin on drivers side and check the wires or connections for dirt etc etc..sound rite?? :-?

(also just got some fotos of my car!! tell us wot u [ERRR] :D :) :D cheers)

glad u sorted the system.

as for the Central locking try cleaning up the regulators as you've rightly said. :)

as for c/l sometime the interior handle wire jams so needs replacing or lube
