Sensor compatability!!!!
.
Wonder if anyone could answer these questions for me, Basically I've turbo'd my XR3i EFi cabby, Now the car was running 100% perfect before the change i.e idle speed when pulling up to junctions etc.
The car is/was running an 9AAA ECU and after some research I found that all the wiring was 100% correct with no changes need to run a OFAC ECU, but I did add the extra wire to the ECU plug for the Amal valve with the 2nd wire on the plug T'd into the coil pack plug wiring (I had an OFAC FRST loom and traced the wiring to prove)
Now when I did the turbo conversion I used the full XR3i loom but used the OFAC turbo manifold loom and all the FRST sensors etc, including the ISCV as the XR3i was a cossie type one in the air box. Car runs fine but when stopping a jnc's etc the idle takes ages to come down to 900/1000rpm.
So what I've done now is fitted the XR3i throttle, FPR and CO pot as the FRST fuel press reg had been tampered with before I had it.
What I need to know is, are the fuel rail looms on the escort and fiesta the same and inter changeable, also the manifold air temp sensors, the FRST one has a different plug to the Escort one, are the XR3i sensor the same apart from the plug and can I use it with the OFAC ECU.
Also the throttle body, the FRST when shut is totally sealed but has a 3 ish mm hole in the flap where as the Escort throttle doesn't total seal when shut but doesn't have the 3mm hole, anyone know if there interchangeable ?????
Thanks
Ginger

Re: Sensor compatability!!!!
IAT sensor that goes to the manifold is different on FRST. It can read higher intake temps compared to the atmospheric versions of the engine, so you must replace it too, for the correct one for your management. ISCV is the same, fuel rail and regulator is the same but I would suggest to measure the fuel pressure for ease of mind. Injectors are the same if it has blue injectors on. Rail loom is the same also. Regarding throttle bodies, I never tried it, but from what I know, the FRST throttle body has a hole on the flap as you describe, but it is not sufficient for the engine to run with only that, hence it kills itself when you unplug the ISCV when the engine running. When you installed the xr3i throttle body, if you are stoped, not in junctions after moving, when parked for example, does it idles as it should? If it does, if you unplug the ISCV, does the engine stops?
