Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D
ok well iv found my cable so il stick up some pics, theyre not the greatest as theyre off my phone (id rather spend my money on the car than a camera
)
these are some pictures of the RST shell that i got for the conversion just to show people i ddnt scrap a good genuine shell

later on we found that the rear panel all the welds had completly rotted through as we tried lifting the car by the rear panel (me and 1 mate) to bump it round as it wasnt straight in the garage and actually ripped the whole panel away from the car
this is the rear drivers side where the light would bolt into as you can see just a small gap
must be for ventillation??

didnt either bother to dig into that filler god knows what would of turned up

the battery tray doesnt actually look to bad here in the picture but when you consider i leant on the battery tray with my hand and made that hole it in i think its safe to say it fudged

this was the "minor bit of welding" needed to the floor pan bearing in mind the whole floor pan had been repainted at some point recently and this had mades it way through i ddnt bother to dig about this

so all in all i think the car needed:floor pan welded, 2 new sills, all 4 arches, battery tray, the rear panel the boot sits against and thats just the metal work let alone all the wheel bearings TRE etc etc.
i didnt really take any pictures of the conversion as it was just a simple out with one and in with the other so i just have pictures of my car after the conversion
the only thing i had to change was the fuel line from the filter to the rail and from the FPR to the return which was extremely simple and if anyone wants pictures etc. of this just ask
sorry for it being so dirty
i only had chance to give it a quick blast with a jetwash at work after the conversion it will get a proper valet soon i promise

Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D
sorted the top hose me thinks but drove it to the tyre centre today as i need to take out my drivers side shocks as its not bolted down properly from when i uprated them to gmax as im thinking the top mount isnt in properly so isnt letting it bolt down properly and therefore making the tyre on that side wear out excessively, so apart from shelling out for 2 new tyres, it was ok but now the oil feed pipe has split on it and its dumped all its oil
does anyone know how i can fix this? like buy a new braided hose part or im not sure howw to go about it now
help very much needed

well iv ordered a new oil pipe
so once i get that through i shall be bunging in some oil and fit the new pipe and i can drive it again
will probs go back to the old black bumper with the wide mouth as i dont think the splitter suits the rest of the car so once iv changed over the bumper the white bumper willl be up for sale

Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D
not much progress lately as iv started a new job and have to work a month in hand so iv been 6 weeks without pay so far
, but when i get paid i should have a half decent update havent really done much to the car lately , just changed the bumpers back over and fitted the oil feed and just been tinkering with a few bits went to fit my anti roll bar (front) last night what a pain they are to get in !
and then i finally got it in and couldnt find the bolts to bolt it in
bloody thing so just left it in with a couple of cable ties to stop it banging about
will try and find out what bolts they are today
hopefully should have a more worthy update soon

Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D
do you mean you cant find any bolt holes to clamp it down?
think it it didnt come with a front arb you need to fit the front crossmember from a model that did.
fiesta si phil had to do this to his 1.3 too

I think he means literally the bolts, Jony... The holes should be there. With mine, there were no threads, just holes, but used the original ARB bracket bolts to cut the threads - no problems at all

I know roughly what they look like, but not sure what the thread size is... Got to be either M6 or M8 I guess. If you're looking for them in your pile of bits, they're black
About 1" to 1"1/2 long if I remember rightly

Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D
i agree either m6 or m8
theyre rather small, the nut part has a little washer looking jobbie around the edge facing the thread if you get me, and i think a crator topped nut, liek a small dip so to speak
could be mistaken though

if its any use, every mk4 come with the ARB, its the same size as a mk3's and i think the bolts are the same too
if your local scrappy keeps its cars up on bricks/tyres witht he wheels off liek mine, its easy enought o get some off, take a small 7/8mm spanner with you
