RS1800 M661 NWP
Right thought id pop a project thread up to show what ive been doing with mine. Brief history so far, im the 17th owner
bought the car in June 2011 off a guy in Wales, sad part of it is I haven't actually driven the car yet
, it was on ebay and had a knackered "headgasket"
, turned out it was a tad more severe than that as when I got it home, just moving it around to wash it or pull it in and out of the garage was showing signs of a knackered engine, blue smoke, no power and hydraulic lock now and again due to the head gasket too! No biggie as I had a spare 1800 Silver Top in the garage from an old project anyway, so just swapped the cams and inlet over, done the cam belt and service and that's good to go. This is the pic from the ebay listing

Few pics I took before I started work on it
With my mates old XR3i

So the strip down starts to remove the engine and to find out just what shape the shell is in

As you can see from the tub of oil it was a bit poorly

New Engine

As you can see from these pics above and below the front panel is a tad rotten from an old front end nudge and absolutely battered from speed bumps etc and has now been replaced for a brand new one

So the majority of the rot is on the inside and isn't too drastic, the outside is pretty good, just need a patch on each rear arch due to the typical arch trim rot and a bit on each front wing where the bumper hugs around the panel.
A couple of pics of the car stripped and waiting to be picked up for the inside repair work

All of the inside has now been sorted and looks fantastic
big thanks to AJB Motor Services for that, the car will be returning to them sometime in the near future to have the outside taken care of and have a blow over the whole car to freshen up the paint
Fitted some RST opening rear windows

This is how dedicated I am, I went looking for the proper tool and rivet nuts that the windows were originally fitted with

Brought a new set of Genuine Ford parts to rebuild the gear linkage box

The engine all serviced and fitted with a K&N 57i kit

Got rid of the horrible wing back seats and bought a full mint Recaro interior

Repainted the anti roll bar while I had a few minutes spare

Will keep the updates coming

Check your paint code...I think yours is mallard green and not tourmallard.

Already have mate, did that around the time I got it as I was told to check how many left.com and there was a little debate about the paint code but it is Tourmallard Green

Re: RS1800 M661 NWP
Couple of updates for the Fez, my new clutch turned up yesterday so I can finally get the engine back in, big g1985 sold me a radiator as my old one was rotten and im getting a new lower rad hose next week to finish the cooling side of things. Im also getting the cam cover sprayed the same colour as the car and painting some of the mounts and brackets to tart the engine up a bit more too in the next few weeks
Watch this space for more pics of the progress
