Thought i would let you see what my mate is building, its a 1.6 si (for now) the wheels are 7.5x17in RS 7's Diamond cut, they wont be on the car when its fin because he has a brand new set in his room :Q these are just to get the arches right, the car is sat on the bumpstops in the pics, car wont be quite that low but will be low enough when he gets his coilys, as you can see the rear handles will be smooth and also the locks will be off, the rear boot is gonna be smooth and thats a si rear with mk4 recess, gonna see how the smooth boot looks when its done, if it looks no good then its going,
not sure on the brake setup, its gonna be corvette calipers but not sure of what disks, think cossie rears and eather cossie fronts or sum big ones with bells on...
Him and his dad are doing all the work, he hopes to get it ready for FITP and Ford Fair...

did he have to do any unusual mods to get the rear 17's to fit?just heard that cuz the rear door, 17's would mean you'd have to do sumit that results in the door not opening (neva seen why though) 5 doors in nouveau red, cant beat it, good to see i got competition :D

I think its ashame it has 5 doors, IMO they never look as nice as a 3dr. If a car is available with 3 doors, then thats the one to have!

If he doesn't like his smooth boot, I'll have it off him as I'm the same colour

Think it's just a taste thing - that a majority of people simply prefer the look of a 3 door over a 5 door. I definitely like the look of a 3 door a lot more than a 5 door.

Saying that, if it's done right, then a 5 door can be just as good as any 3 door, to me. Look at festajon's or phatboy's, they're both awesome looking cars, but it's because they've been done right.

I'm sure Brad's is going to look great from seeing those initial shots :D

My car is a 3-door, but what i'm sayin is how people just call 5-doors...

Eg, i was talkin to some random lad once and a seat leon cupra-r went past, i said its pawn, he sad shame its a 5-door... whats all that about? Bender... its like a sad little idia that little maxpower boys get in their head that 5-doors are s**t, then they w@nk over standard 5-door evo's with stickers on... odd...

Thats how low the car is gonna sit, he may go lower (i know he wants to but his dad dont think its a good idia) you can see that everythin has been stripped out, every little tiny effort of rust has been sorted, wont take long to fin now...

While we are on the subject of 3 doors... he has a 3-door sierra 1.6 with no engine... thats all i'm sayin...

To be honest mate its just taste, you may hate aftermarket bumpers, tiny wheels, big wheels whatever.... a 5 door fiesta is just like that to me.

The reason I don't think they look as good is because the doors are too small and the rear pillars are very wide. It'd be like have a 7 Series BMW with 3 doors either side, they'd look too cramped together.

I love it, Dont get what your saying bout the Sierra though.

Theres no deniying that if you do the right things to a 5dr they look sweet.

Those wheels look sweet with a drop like that.

i personally dont give a jolly flip whether it has 3,5,35 doors the amount of effort and time that is gunna go in to that deserves respect whether or not you like it. :)

i personally dont really like 5 doors but that looks good now and is gunna look amazing when finished. :)

gunna have to have a chat with him at FITP05 :D

tell him to keep up the good work and keep us posted. :D

and how much do rs7's suit that car :D i might have to rethink my plans.

The O.D. of the rim won't cause the problem - it's the width.

The thing that put me off 17" RS 7 spokes is the fact they only do them in 7.5" so be really careful with tyre choice (which it looks like you have judging by the look of the tyre walls in the pics).

Good luck with it - keep the angle grinder handy :)

Cheers,

Andy

Just a little pic to show progress on n/s front wing...

Image

Not v-clear buy it shows how the arch has been cut, then pulled, then a bit of another arch welded in to bridge the gap keeping origional mounting holes for arch spats, Gonna be 1 wide ass fez.

Also a spy shot of trial engine fitting to another random fez he has,

Image

Easy enough to see its a maxda v6, nice lightweight alloy engine, probz lighter than the 1.6 zetec, and a lot more powerfull.
