Private messages not sending..?

Ive been trying to send private messages but they just go to my outbox and stay there,
My sent box has previous messages I've sent but not the new ones
Anything i can try?

outbox is until the message has been read then it goes to your sent box ,,maybe the person your trying to message hasnt picked up the message
