Re: .
my_cougar49 :I got them off with a pair of pliers wrapped up in kitchen towel to stop the scratching the glass if I slipped. Just for safety I used masking tape around the rusted caps as well.
Cheers, i'll try that then later tonight

i bought some off ebay and took them to a local garage as i needed some other jobs doing so thought id let them do the windows too.
(plus im crap at diy usually).
got the car back and its as if the rubbers are too small.
they dont go right into the corners and look like there going to leek when it rains.
they said it looks like the rubbers have shrunk???
maybe the rubbers are off a different car....
shall i just go to fords and buy new rubbers,as the scrappers wont sell the rubbers seperate i wouldnt have thought will they....
well puzzled.

The seals were second hand but are fine. No wind noise and no water. I just used large rivets to fix the hinges because i dont have a rivnut gun. And the back clasp thing is just bolted on through the holes that are already there

Just got to clean the dirt and grot from under the original rubbers before you put new windows in.
I aint even fixed the front hinges and it still secure.

I know this is a post of 8!! years back,
Excelent shopping list (-:
Just a remark on the captive nuts (Rivnuts) fitting.
Fitting them with the special equipment doesn't use a nut at the end, it just 'pulls' on the thread (please don't mind my english as it is not my native language)
I've fitted these nuts both with, and without the special equipment in the past.
Without the special equipment
Use the same materials as in this guide, but leave the M4 bolt head untouched.
Put a m4 nut on the bolt, the m5 washer and then the rivnut.
Place in hole.
Use 2 wrenches .. one to hold the bolt in place (don't turn, just hold and keep the rivnut in the hole .. a ring or socket wrench is advised)
And tighten with the other the M4 nu .... when tight.. undo the m4 nut a bit.. and undo the bolt..
No grinding needed.., no bolt fishing needed.. and the result is the same
