ollieRS ZVH turbo project
ok so were do i begin oh yea thats right, i started up a thread about 2 months ago about my new black FRST. now when i got it i new it needed abit of welding doing but after owning it for a few days i got my hands stuck into it an relised that it was not just a few bits here an there it was a complete rust bucket
so while driving it around i was never really comfertable with the inside being completly stripped as of the holes were so bad everytime abit of water touched it she got socked. so was umming an arrring about getting the welding done orrr reshell the engin which is a 2.1 zvh turbo running 201bhp with 320fpt at 19psi!
a mate of mine with a black FRST aswell gave me a bell an wanted to show me his new gear linkage from a puma 1.7, so went for a drive to brighton to meet him anyways as soon as i got into the town i had this chavy gammon slipper bellend retarded small dick 'conquering device' swerving behind me an flashing his lights was a integra type r btw! so i blow him away then just casualy drove to the marina an he was behind me again at the lights reving his enging so i thort right one more time to make him look like a gammon slipper infront of his fat bleach blonde haired gezzabird! so done him on the lights but keept spinning up from the lack of gearbox
looked in the rear mirror an he was on my arse looked infrot saw the bend coming up checked the mirror again he was ridding my bumper so had to come of the brakes as i didnt want him going into the back of me but the corner was sharper than i thort an went straight an hit the wall
as soon as i hit the wall he ran over an said" you ok mate ime so sorry i didnt no what i was thinking" wel as soon as the police turned up he pissed of!!!!!!!!
an left me with this.
so i was propper hacked of as anyone would be but then also tried to look it at a positive way i.e the rust was that bad it had to be reshelled an i never felt right in it
i got it home the next day as the bellend police would not wait 5 mins for my brakedown truck to come an had theres tow it to the compound which ment i had to pay £250!!!!
anyways as soon as it was home i got to work seeing what the damage was an luckly the engin was not touched all that was done was the damage to the front wing chassis leg bent big time from the drive shaft lower arm bent in half. but the whole care was shunted over i mean the pasenger door dont open an the battery try colapsed inwards
the turbo had punched a massive hole thro the rad which is no good now.
so the natrual thing was to look for another shell but me being me wanted a black shell as i have had ideas of what i wanted it to look like.
hours an hours of looking turned into days turned into 2weeks when half way thro i changed from being picky to look for just a mint mk3 shell.
when this little gem popped up on the one an only ft.com
red xr2i 21k on the clock GENUINE 1 old man owner from new only used to go to the shops an back, had his licenced revoked in 2002 an left it in the garage since now when he gave it to the girl i brought it of as they had no use for it as they had decent cars as it is.
so i picked it up for yes £670

and yes it is like brand new not one thing has been changed worked on nothing even has the stickers still on the hoses an got the original tap player in it provided by ford
so to say i am happy is an understement.
have lots more pics
now the only probs are basicly when they opened up the garage they jump started it now after all these years of sitting we all no the oil is not gonna be fresh out of a bottle an it was chucked around the engin which has nackered the oil pump an clogged everything up plus the old man dropped something on the front wing but that can be sorted.
the plans are to get everything from the black one transfered over to the red one wih a few upgrades to get it back on the road like new rad oil ect...

Wel i am very very suprised that all i had was a small bruse the size of a 5p were my belt was.
As soon as i hit the wall my first thorts were my engin was f**cked couldn give 2 s**t about him just wanted to get my car home. But reguards to him ive not been back to brighton yet an once i do wel i will let all your minds get carried away as thats what will happen an some.

UPDATE- so sunday my plans were get up bang early clear the old mans workshop, strip the black one then strip the red one.
Like usall nothing goes to plan
got up at 6 started clearing out the workshop to make space for all the parts an what not 6 BLOODY HOURS LATER!!! i got it cleared out had a fight with a spider the size of my head!
got started on stripping the black one an all thats left to take of is front struts, engin an box, sterring rack an front roll bar oh an passeger calliper an the skirts an arches
then got cracking with stripping the engen bay of the red one but only had a few hours of sunlight an as i am going to keep the head an inlet i decided to split the engin while still in.
took the rocker of an look what i found
no wonder the engin was fooked when the started it lol.
then ran out of sunlight so packed up for the evening.
TONIGHT- plans for tonight was strip the rest of the bay on the red one an get it ready for a good clean........ yes like usall it didnt go to plan due to a Bic™ of a driveshaft not budging from the passenger side in the end i decided to pull the stupid thing out

So i have not updated the thread due to not having internet on
and only been able to do stuff from my iphone which is a pain BUT lots of work has gone on in the last few weeks since i started on the red one an it is pretty much nearly ready to be put on the road.
i took 3 days of work to get the engin in and running as i am flat out working to pay for all of this
the first day was not as great as id hoped
to start things of i thort i would do my cambelt befor picking some bits up an getting the flywheel grounded. so did everything to take it of come to taking the bottom pully of..... was not buddging so mate came piling in with a crowbar an snapped the cog behind it
luckly i had a spare block laying about so wiwpped it of got the belt on timed it all up.
dropped the flywheel of was gonna be an hour so popped over to halfords to pic a clutch alignment tool up, my mate has a trade card which comes in handy but not when the 60 year old which behind the counter asks for a signiture, wel i have never seen his lol so i thort make it up that will work
wel no she run of to the store manager an he said they dont match we are keping it so as you can tell i was pxxxxd of sooo after telling my mate i asked the bloke to exchange my tool as the box was split anyways he did a refund i said what the fuk are you doing i want an exchange now go get me my tool, he walked of an i mutted under my breath not got f ing time for this, he turned around an said right get out my shop an laffed i not got time for this to. so i tapped him on the chin an walked out
after picking the flywheel running around getting the clutch tool from another halfords an picking up a new releace bearing from ford it was 3 30 in the afternoon
time to get cracking

used Tardist suplyed by my mate who works for autosmart to get all the oil grit an rubbish of the bay

how it turned out

befor putting the engin in i was gonna put on my stage 2 quife box on along with checking the clutch to see if it needed replacing as wel.
so wipped the box of to find this pile of junk in there

were i was told it was an ap paddle clutch
BUT the biggest find was this


now in the black one i always had to feather in the power as if i planted it she just spun up, yes it did spin but most of the time looking at the state of this
clutch she was slipping not spinning
so in out with the old and in with the new plus i had the flywheel grounded as it had the same lip as the plate did.

thats how i left it for the evening.
the next day went alot smoother an better until it came to putting the intercooler on. i offered it up an i clearly saw it was a no go an not going to fit with the stage 2 airtec rad
propper put a downer on the day as it had been going so wel.
i decided to just get it running while i had the time of.
all plummed in


got everything already to turn it over to get the oil to come thro the return pipe to the turbo an there was not enough power coming from the battery as the cable i was sent for the relocation was wrong but wanted to use it just to turn it over

no chance with that chipalater
by this time it was dark so packed everything away ready for the next day.
ok so the night befor i planned to shorten the cable just to turn it over an look what happened

cracked on with tidying bits up the rest of the day i.e taking the clutch pedal out for the conversion changed the interia for my turbo one


freshhhhhhh 21k motor

got my read quaters in of the black one

took the black decal of the doors an blue 2i strips
befor

after

that was it for my time of so now it was a case of evenings straight after work which was a pain as with the nights getting darker quicker i dont have time to really crack on with a few jobs just one or two at a time plus i was still waiting on parts to come like the stage 2 front mount from airtec plus i also picked my self up a zs rear beam for peanuts of flebay from turned out to be dan from performance ford lol had a good chat with him. also got some polybush mounts for when i bolt it up. my mate sold me his st170 rear discs from the one he was breaking an i will put them on when i do the rear beam but that will be a weekend job as i am gonna use the rs2000 handbreak cable an i no full wel its not gonna be a pece of cake

time to fit it. spoke to alan at airtec an asked if i could get away with keeping most of the bumper an hidding the cooler as for now its gonna be staying a 2i on books an he said i still gotta cut out the back of the bumper but also the top.
so i had a crack at seeing if i could hide as much as poss an this is what i did.
cut an ready

this shows it being up but as a temp but since then i made sliders on the mount an squared it up so it was straight.

how it looked after i finished tonight on it still needs touching up but for now

also i picked up these from steve (rs220bhp) thanks mate. am gonna get them powder coated mayby a satin black not to sure yet maybe flin gray.
riding on standard 2i shocks hehe for now until 2 weeks when i get my gaz


and that is pretty much were i am now. al that is need for me to get it on the road is the clutch pedal put my cossie fronts on rear beam with rear discs get it tracked up mot txed an insured.
gonna have to put my old avos on the rear as the comps are to wide for the standard shocks so i gave them abit of a referb tonight altho one of them is pretty much nackered but will do for 2 weeks.

Haha thanks mate i have to say i am growing to the red but it will need a respray i think plus the front bumper will need doing as i forgot to put a sheet down when doing the cut out
as i was to ingrosed using the saw lol.

UPDATE-

i ended up cleaning my cossie brakes up, not full on referb an paint just to give them a quick clean as i will give them a proper repaint when its on the road. turns out that the look either really new or has had a full on referb befor 
only managed to get one side done as the bloody light went way to quick tonight so will finish the otherside tomo but this is like a befor an after.

i love the rs in red pal, just looks mean in black but then again, im obsessed with black. and fair play, maybe it needed to be red... maybe the accident was a sign

UPDATE-
IT DRIVES!!!!!

so over the last few days i have been getting all the brakes sorted. cleaned up the othersides caliper put the new fuel lines on plus bleed it all thro.
so tonight i managed to take it out for a little test drive an wel i am pretty speachless but also have the biggest grin on my face
there are lots of little niggle bits that need sorting now so from now till sat (mot day deadline) i am going to get them all sorted.

i feel like a kid a xmas lol but i tell ya what just driving it that short peirod of time showed how bad the black one really was

UPDATE-
yesterday i did myself a deadline of getting it insured an mot. in order to have it mot ready i had to sort out the indicators which ment i had to change the stalks as the relay had gone.
then it was mount the battery tray in the boot so i could fix the battery down as it was a temp fix a few good long self tappers an i was good to go

took it to the mot help out doing it abit
an oi oi savoly i got a pass lol massive smile on the face as i didnt even get any advisorys.
took it for abit of a blast last night only down the duely as i had to pick the gfs swimming costume up an i had to be sneaky as the txt disc wont be thro till next week
