Will decide what I do engine wise when the time comes, it's either puma power, then insurance of over a grand again to declare the conversion, or a newer car with more power and toys, and cheaper to insure... All in good time

for that money id deffo have a go at sorting the rust myself, slighly offputting as mark said, that sorta money almost surpasses the cars value

learn to use fiberglass and cut most of it out, i didnt see drastic rust at Ford fair unless its developed since, none of my rust has since

as i see it if you love your car and it gives you satisfaction then it dont matter how much money you spend on it.
ive spent over £5k on my rs fiesta and clearly know i wont get it all back but its the journey and the time its gone through that makes it worth while

It's definitely a sign! However, there's so much going on in my head at the moment.
Its a clichéd case of going with my heart or my head, heart is definitely saying to keep mine and puma it, but my head is saying its more sensible to get something newer and faster. Calculating the figures, it will actually work out cheaper in the long run for me to go with another car, if I total up how much I've been spending on mine to keep it roadworthy and in a decent state (MOT, worn components down to the mileage etc). Just as an example, got into the car yesterday, went to shut the door and the door card detached from the bottom of the door, and various little bits and pieces like that - if I had a newer car I wouldn't have to touch it as often as it would be fairly maintenance free- and have a warranty- and with the ZS/ST looks I wouldn't change anything on the outside either.

So much to think about. MOT on the 28th Jan - lets see what happens there, but yeah, fudgekin bargain on those skirts! Its costing over half that to get there and back on the dartford tolls

you say it be cheaper in the snece of how much you have spent on this car, but you will always spend money on car, befor ei bought my si i swore id not do it up, lower a tad and bigger brakes... now look im doing it all and didnt even plan to

its universal to someone who enjoys modifing/altering cars, you cant escape it, my advice, stick with it, theres nothign wrong with it and no reason to drop it, fair enough if it was running s**t or the engine had given up on you etc

I didn't mention that the figure "surpassed its value" - simply that Nick may as sell sell it and add the repair cost to what he gets for the car. Even at £160 on top of his, he could get a nice and solid Mk5.

Well the process as you may know has started. The last week I've:
Removed laguna splitter
removed ZS rear bumper
Removed OMP Strut brace
Removed air filter
Replaced radio with standard cassette deck
Removed Parrot Bluetooth unit

I had to go out today to pick up a new unit, my old 3000 Traffic...

...burnt out the illumination feed after being stored in the shed for 4 years (nobody told me the shed leaked!!). So after scavenging the scrappy, found a 4000RDS unit from an Escort (still a cassette deck, but has RDS, and the ability to output to four speakers rather than the 3000's 2 speaker output.

Booking the MOT on Monday! Wish me luck!

Slight change of plan. Like an absolute baxtered it passed it's MOT with flying colours so why am I thinking of getting rid?

At the moment the plan is this:
Temporary repair of rust on rear arches
Spray and fit RS accessory skirts
Enjoy until June, then new car in June (more of a deposit by then lowering the monthly repayments).
Either way, I want a new car by the time I do my annual Cornwall trip in August.

Not at all. Up until the MOT I was all for getting rid but the fact is that it still hasn't let me down. If I keep running it for a while longer, that gives me more time to save more money, which in turn then means I have more money for a deposit, meaning I'm borrowing less, so the monthly payments would be less. There's nothing physically wrong with the car bar the rust so will sort it for the start of show season.
