I've been thinking, as the new fiesta st is technically a 'fiesta turbo' then maybe it could help this forum, as it means people may buy one and start using this forum, and the interest in rst's might go up etc. anyone else think the same??

Re: New fiesta st, good news for ft.com??
I've sat in a few but not driven it yet, it doesn't sound all that to be honest but I've been told it should get a little louder once you've done some miles. Exhaust appears to be the same as on the Zetec S Metal Edition. The seats are nice, the alloys look to small and the brakes appear puny behind them. I have no doubt it will stop and handle though.
tbh It is expensive for what it is. Typical PCP is £319 a month I am led to believe. Side on it looks no different to a Zetec S but that could have been said of the old model. However I much prefer it to the new Focus ST, it is a step-forward over the old Fiesta ST, the new Focus ST isn't in quite a few respects.
It will be a good car for Ford and raise the profile of the brand and the old FRST. Thankfully they've not made it in 5dr only form like the new Clio, although the Yanks only get the 5dr model. Being a world car there will be a lot of parts available for it if you intend to modify it.

I would imagine companies like mountune will do some cool add-ons for it!! Luca if you get one i hope you keep the rst too as it pretty much my favourite car ever!! Imo the old st fiesta looked spot on, i've never been too sure about the mk7 fiestas styling but i guess we'll see when we see them in the flesh. They'll never be as cool as an rst though!!

I had a lhd 1.4 tdci mk7 fez 5dr as a hire car a few years ago, and i chucked it around back roads harder than my old saxo vts and passat w8!!
If this new ST has similar (if not better) suspension and breaks, it will be an outstanding car!!
Been looking to get one as well. But also have my heart set on an Escos

Ive a MK7 Zs at moment and it handles superbly with the Eibach springs.
Truly outstanding car but underpowered!
There are a few companies already testing upgrades for the ST, reports of 225hp already.
Won't be long until Pro Alloy and Miltek offer parts too

Tbh, I don't think it will make any difference to this site, there are far busier and more relevant forums that buyers would turn to.

To be honest I agree. A lot of the people who buy them won't know about older fiesta and if the ones that do use a forum, it'll probably be an st one. It could work in favour of this forum though, you never know. It can't be bad news for it anyway

This is true. The new Fiesta ST isn't referred to as a Fiesta Turbo... it's referred to as a Fiesta ST, and for those you will immediately turn to FSTOC or FFST.

Unforuently it has a lower power than all other cars in the same bracket on offer e.g. Corsa Vxr.

Haha "a lot of"
you know the type of people I mean. Daddy's boys etc
Actually, now I think of it, maybe all the daddy's boys will opt for the VXRs or the clio sports with them being quicker. It's a shame ford don't do the bigger power figures to make them top dogs again. But then they'd be bought by the daddy's boys I guess lol

LOL
I might ask my Daddy if he will pay
VXR in my opinion lacks a sole and the interior build quality is a bit cheap and rattles!
Clio looks great and without driving one I'd be sure will handle very well too, BUT its also now 5 door only and also not available with a manual gearbox and a lot bigger than the last..... a few £k more too!
The Fiesta is priced well against its competitors the mk7 chassis is amazing, the interior is also great now with the Recaros and toned down plastics. However the wheels and narrow arse end let it down BIIGTIME on the ST imo.
Needless to say though I'd have one and am looking forward to driving one... lets hope i can get past some Clios and Vxr's

You can't get a Clio with a manual box? Shocking. Sooner or later you won't have any feeling or sensation of driving at all. I drive brand new cars every now and then at work and it makes the drive home in my xr2i so much more fun lol

difference is though, thats theyre finest effort, everyone knows the ST range is a second wind range to the very best... the RS
so if theres to be a mk7 RS, you damn well know its going to be a class leader with well over 200 ponies
thing you have to remember about ford is, especially true here, if you think back to how thigns are with the mk3, the Si comes in a 1.6 zetec, over night it can be fitted with a 2.0 zetec which adds 40bhp instantly no fuss
the mk7 uses a 1.6 ecoboost, now im certain its the same engine design as the mk3 focus ST's 2.0 ecoboost, drop that in the mk7 to get 250 instantly!
yet again might not be worth it, turbo engines are normally very tunable,
im just excited to see what gains companys will be making, AS are already developing a intercooler for them

Re: New fiesta st, good news for ft.com??
Yeah the old RSs are still the winners for me like. RS500 sierra for storming the btcc etc.
They do need a fiesta rs, and if they can do so well with the focus rs then surely, if one does appear, it will be amazing. I just hope they think it'll be "commercially viable".

Sheriff Burman :It's an S2000 class, so 2l
Fiesta S2000 is a 2.0 NA, WRC is a 1.6 Turbo. You can tell the difference visually, S2000 has squared off rear arches and a small-ish spoiler on the top of the tailgate, WRC has rounder rear arches and a huge multi level wing.
I did write a bit about the ST here: http://www.fiestaturbo.com/news/2013-fiesta-st/
As you can tell from the recent show photos, we're covering all Fiestas now, not just the mk3 like it used to be in the old days!
