Re: My si project.....*Update 20/05/13 - NEW MOD NUMBER 1!*
Right then, decided I couldnt wait till next weekend to fit the new mod that had already arrived, so fitted it yesterday
First off, I gave the Si a thorough wash and much needed wax aswell, was a colour change when I waxed it, from milky white finish to jet black, well happy
Anyway, on to "Mod number 1". Still have an "OEM+" mod to come next weekend, will reveal what when its done
Pics can do the talking:

Yes indeed, a lovely set of pressed plates

Cheers mate
And I totally agree, always loved them. Got a set for my mk1 fez but sold it before I got chance to fit them, so thought I would get some for the si instead

you should fit the correct badges mate, the old style ford ones dont suit Si's imo

And by correct, you mean incorrect ford badges. As the ones on mine are the correct ones for an M plate si. Came from the factory with these badges. I have heard of the odd N plate being fitted with the more modern, smaller and more "sticky out" badges, but mine certainly wasnt, and I prefer the look of these badges too

Re: My si project.....*Update 28/05/13 - LOTS DONE!*
Right then, update time!
Got loads done over the bank holiday weekend on the si, am well pleased!
Got the other planned mods done, as can be seen in the pics. These are as follows:
Ambers fitted (as I love the retro look to go with the new pressed reg plates, and I like the contrast with the black paint, and I just love ambers in general anyway
)
Also put some new stickers on
Also resprayed the wheels to freshen them up, and painted the wheel nuts and centres black rather than just rusty metal, which I'm well pleased with, makes such a difference!
Also fixed the handbrake (again!), changed the oil and filter, and changed the drivebelt too
Oh, and washed it!

It is indeed, and if I had a pound for every time someone said "Love the wheels, what are they off" I would be a millionaire!

I know, people often ask me too, they're always surprised that they're just Si wheels. I'm trying to find another set for my track tyres, but they don't come up often!!! I have another set, but they're rotten

Probably one of the best standard design of steels I know of (other than those fitted to the Pug Rallye). A good width too handling-wise
I know what you mean, took me absolutely ages to find some more, got 8 in total now, but the other 4 are for an ongoing sleeper project
PM Fiestasiphil on here, he might have some, has broken a few si's in the past

Re: My si project.....*Update 05/05/14 - Service and paint*
Did some work on the si over the weekend. Was annual service time so I changed the drive belt, oil, oil filter, air filter and plugs. Running much smoother now
Also took the wheels off for a fresh lick of paint (and wheel nuts), and cleaned the engine bay and painted the cross over pipe. All looks much better now and ready for the show season, really pleased! Oh, and I was videod on the way back from wales this evening by a random fan in a jag, so the car must be somewhat striking!
Anyway, pics:

Need to give mine a freshen up! What paint do you use? I always used silver Hammerite, but it just keeps going up and up in price!
Looking good, though

I use smooth silver hammerite out of the spraycan, £8 from my local parts shop. Very durable and thick coat to prevent stone chip damage etc. Refresh them once a year in spring once the roads have stopped being salted

I used to get mine from Tesco, used to be silly cheap!
Well the white one has gone, and has been replaced since February - look for my Azura thread somewhere around the top of the Members Gallery (at the moment!).

Yea, it has got more expensive which is annoying! Good investment every so often to freshen up the look though
Nice work with the shell "swap over", should last another good few years
