ok bit of an update the car won't be sprayed till christmas now due to my mate going on holiday for 2 weeks!!! :oooh: sooooo while i'm waiting gonna try get hold of the few bits i'm missing and prepare someother bits too, so really wanted to fit the dash and other bits but gotta wait till its all painted  then it'll all look ace mate was just gettin the the rear bumper arch's filled to match the arch's on the 1/4's so that'll be done now.... :D

any way sourced out my clear rears i bought a while ago and took them to the body shop ready to go on when its painted.... dunno wot people think of puttin clears on it thinking of painting them the same colour as the car but unsure gonna leave them as they are for now then see wot u think????

Image

also just thought i'd post a quick pic of my old boot which is obviously still going back on fully smoothed with a mondy est spoiler smoothed NO existing spoiler!!!! had it fitted b4 but the pic wasn't good quality so anyway heres a few pics of it in the shed waiting to be rubbed down then painted the new colour... :D :D :D

Coming along nicely - it seems to me every person (except for Rawli) has delays when getting their spraying done! THE longest thing I've waited for to get sorted on mine, second being mapping!

Have fun with the Mk5 dash - sounds like an arse of a job from the other accounts I've seen!

Cheers,

Andy

well he would have sprayed it but as i said he's goin away and he said he doesn't wanna spray it then just leave it encase it 1. gets damaged by a customer or 2. leave it there without it bein flatted and sorted he wants to get it perfect when he's bak so he can concentrate properly on it... as for the dash like i said it'll all fit ok the only pig i think will be the wireing ??? but i have someone i know who will sort that no prob he's a god with that stuff

yer welll my bonus is before the inside was sprayed i put the heater box in and mounted it and got it to fit real good and the same with the dash had couple of bits welded to make it all fit sweet as so as i said the dash and heater will fit sweet just have to sort the wireing but the car will have no power so can't do the wireing till then :-?

xrsi struggled to get hid to fit,

personnally i reconnow is a good time to fit the dash,
no fear of scratching anything and no rush, just get it so it all fits properly then take it out again for sparying and sort the wiring later

dam took to long to read the post

you can sort the wiring with no power, just cant test it

AFAIK you need to run an extra feed to the heater electronics for engine speed

yer dude it does fit i had it in bout 5 times  fits perfect..... but mate says it'll only get dusty and dirty just to wait till the outside is painted so the doors and that can go bak on and i'm not cleanin it every week  yer as you say i can't test it so i think i'll leave it for now, then ask 40 questions when i have power!!!

pleased now there on lowered it a touch more and still have the possibility to lower another 20mm or more but don't wanna scrape so 20 will be safe when the car is finally finished but heres a pic to see how it sits now, i think it must be lowered somewhere between 80-100mm...

Image

also got my fuel pump box as there so noisy i wanted them boxed so got a piccy of my alloy bits here for u  :D

Image

wasn't gonna give this away yet but gonna be hard to hide but i have my cooling set up now too see wot u think....

Don't mean to take over your thread adam but wanted to ask you something as ive had none or very basic replys to my other topic i started.

When spraying the final coat on and it is complete, and youve let it set and lacquered it, what do you do then? Do you just polish it up with some G3 or cutting paste? Or do you flat the final coat back with 1500 or 1200 grit or something then G3 it or cut it up to a shine?

How many coats of paint and lacquer do i need to use?

My car has mettalic paint by the way its greyish.

Excellent progress, this car will be a great all rounder, stunning looks and going by that cooler will have power to match, dont forget once the engine is in it the front will drop a fair bit.

i'm not a pro on painting its my mate who is but i think dont quote! u use 3 coats of paint and 3 of laquer? and then when its all dried properly flat it with wet and dry use it wet tho but just do this to skim the imperfrections out the laquer then cut and polish it ! remember this is me goin on [ERRR] i seen sometimes may not be correct?

sphinx :Amazing!.......ly dusty :o

 yer unfortunally we tried to cover it up but due to the amount of work and insurance jobs goin through the body shop u can imagine all the filler and paint dust everywhere  but when its fully painted we can get the doors and that on to keep the dust out!! :D

Max M4X WW :I think your coolers wonky lol.

and max it may be slighty out? but if u look closely the end tanks are angled so its never gonna look perfectly straight till u look at it in that way
